To: Red Badger

According to some sources the Afghan Taliban have greatly reduced or effectively ended opium cultivation. This has, in my opinion, led to a surge in Fentanyl deaths in the US. I haven’t seen any American sources talking about this. I’m not making any value judgements, just pointing this out as nobody here seems to be discussing it.

It has been noted elsewhere.

Fentanyl is the poor man’s heroin. It’s cheaper to make and waaaaay more powerful, so they don’t have to have a lot to make a lot..............................

Not sure I believe that. In their previous incarnation the taliban used the opium poppy as a revenue stream despite their “religious convictions”.
