Putting the abortion issue on the ballot in several states brought out the left wing base to vote. Sweeping in people running for dog catcher all the way up to the governor.

Democrats outspent the GOP, I live in the DC Metro Area and all I saw/heard were ads on TV and even radio that focused on abortion and MAGA extremists. The GOP had no real message in Virginia and National, this is all on the RNC. They are waiting for Trump to drag everyone else across the line in 2024!
Abortion is the problem. Republicans cheered when the SCOTUS overruled Roe, but that has made it much more difficult for Republicans to win in purple states.
And Republicans turned Long Island, NY....RED.

Of the comments I’ve read so far, no one mentions the redistricting imposed by the federal court. The district map was designed to produce the results seen.
Republicans could win if they would campaign and get out the vote in rural areas. NoVa Republicans control the strategy and funding. Seemingly they could care less. As usual the R’s had no campaign presense in the central Virginia area where I live.

DC/NOVA ate Virginia long ago. How many people were saying there was hope for Virginia after Youngkin won. I never bought it.
Virginia is a blue state, period, end of discussion. I has been permanently flipped. The home of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson deserves better.
This makes me seriously furious, but it is what it is. If only DC had been put in Maryland, next to Pennsylvania.
The Republicans don't do "total control" even when they are the majority.
I hope the defeat wasn't because Republicans stayed home to give Youngkin a disappointment and keep him out of the presidential race. I doubt it, but people are crazy that way.
