She took documents in a way she wasn’t supposed to. And illegally
Trump doesn’t do illegal
As much as people don’t want to imagine that.
Nothing against Trump but for a while there the media did seemed to glom on to Powell. Was it her feminine mystique or did they go barking up the wrong tree?
Team doesn’t mean she is his lawyer.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

A false claim; she was.
I have attorney-client privilege with three lawyers I never hired.
I met with them for initial consultations and discussed specific legal needs, but I never retained them. In two of the three cases they referred me to someone else. In the third case it turned out I didn’t need a lawyer after all.
Note President Trump’s own tweet here:
“I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!”
There’s a post on the next page claiming Guiliani fired her three times....
Curious....
President Trump did not say 'my lawyers' but "our lawyers.
I remember soon after the election she had come out with a lot of extraordinary claims. Trump immediately said she was not acting on his behalf and many “arm chair quarterbacks” on social media were upset that he didn’t praise her efforts.
It seems that in this situation Trump was right.
What does the "I look forward to..." part mean?
Think it means that at the time of the Tweet, none of those people were on the team.
Perhaps the journalist can confirm that Powell actually did make it on the team as this tweet anticipated...I mean before calling Trump wrong for saying she never was?
My impression of the comment...
Trump is saying that Powell was not his personal attorney.
Did he hire her and pay her? That ought to be easy to prove.
I never had the impression she was actually Trump’s lawyer.
It was noted by many on this forum while it was happening that Sidney Powell wasn’t employed by Trump in any capacity and she was acting as a ‘free agent’, and that the many claims made by her were her opinion only, and not endorsed by Donald Trump.
"Trump claims Sidney Powell was 'never' his lawyer after her plea deal"
Evidenced by the following thread (November 2020), Rudy Giuliani had explained that Powell was not part of Trump's campaign team, nor Trump's personal attorney.
"In a brief statement released Sunday afternoon, President Trump's lead attorney Rudy Giuliani and senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis said that Powell "is not a member of the Trump Legal Team."
"She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity," the former New York City mayor added." —Rudy Giuliani distances Trump campaign from attorney Sidney Powell (11.22.20)
I read her book “Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice” and thought it was quite good, but when she got involved with the 2020 election, I became a bit suspicious of her, especially after nothing apparently came about after her “Release the Kraken” comment.
From Wikipedia:
“In the 2000s Powell represented firms and executives involved in the Enron scandal, including the accounting firm Arthur Andersen and former Merrill Lynch executive Jim Brown. She was an outspoken critic of the Enron Task Force prosecutions, and accused prosecutor Andrew Weissmann of overreach.”
“In 2003 she represented James Brown, a Merrill Lynch executive involved in the Enron scandal; a decade later she wrote Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice to denounce the judicial corruption she perceived in Brown’s trial.”
She was MIke Flynn’s lawyer, after he fired his ORIGINAL lawyers for practically railroading him to prison

From my memory this is what seemed to happen in 2020.
1. Trump’s legal team knew and expected cheating would occur, but were were greatly unprepared. Bluntly, they were incompetent.
2. Flynn and and Powell were introduced to the team but proposed measures that were opposed by Trump’s legal team and thought too radical. Trump’s legal team likely though these actions could lead to Trump being arrested and impeached. He was anyway. Anyone else besides Trump would not have survived the legal and media onslaught that occurred after the election.
3. Giuliani was frequently drunk.
4. Giuliani, Mark Meadows and others on Trumps legal team tried to isolate Trump and proposed to fight the election fraud in the courts. They lost badly without any court hearing the evidence.
5. I think the Flynn, Patrick, and Powell’s option of a limited Martial law was the better, although dangerous.
