The already frosty relationship between President Biden and his attorney general, Merrick Garland, is now in a deep freeze.
Respect and admiration among White House aides for Garland, a longtime federal appeals-court judge chosen to underscore the independence of the Justice Department, has shifted for some into resignation and distrust.

Some Biden aides have said they see Garland’s handling of the inquiries into the Biden family as driven less by a dispassionate pursuit of justice than by a punctilious desire to give the appearance that sensitive investigations are walled off from political pressure, people familiar with the matter say.

The attorney general’s allies say those appointments aren’t him bending to pressure, but rather insulating the probes that touch on Biden—Garland’s boss and the man who appointed him.

Adding to the fraught relationship between the Justice Department and the White House, special counsel Robert Hur has been negotiating with President Biden’s lawyers for weeks over the contours of an interview with the president...

Allies of both Garland and Biden compare their relationship to the tense one between President Clinton and Janet Reno, his attorney general for eight years. Clinton was frustrated that Reno allowed an investigation into the failed Whitewater land deal to expand to a wide-ranging probe...

When Garland attended a reception in the East Room at the White House last month, President Biden said to him: “Attorney General Garland—I haven’t seen you in a long while. It’s good to see you.”
The crowd laughed, and Biden added: “You think I’m kidding. I’m not.”

Clever!
It would seem so. Right down to closing with Biden's notorious: “You think I’m kidding. I’m not.”
I’ll go with pusillanimous.
Garland will tell Biden when to go to bed each night and Biden will do it.
The IRS and FBI whistleblowers were very inconvenient to the Garland cover up. Not to mention Hunter’s generous plea deal. Garland got exposed as a liar. Now he’s desperate to save his reputation while at the same time protecting Biden. Rock..hard place.
Pretty obvious the establishment is about to eject Biden/Harris overboard...
Latest polls are showing they really have little chance in winninh without manufacturing massive numbers of ballots... and know one will believe 81+ million votes again...
My guess is Biden/Harris will volunteer to step away and Newsome and Obama will be their ticket..
Oh, I would be willing to bet that they absolutely “found out” and that is precisely why you (and we) don’t know.
What exactly did Trump say? He saw Barr only once, or he saw him coming out of the cafeteria only once?
Bingo.
You don’t send me flowers anymore...
Yikes--you have inserted a Barbra Streisand ear worm. Unforgivable.
I believe Trump was alluding to Barr’s obesity.
Garland. Flowers. It was impossible to resist.
I have not seen a video clip of such a Trump comment. It would make sense for Trump to make a joke than to tell a obvious lie.
Garland is covering for Biden as well as he can. His job depends on it as well as Biden’s. But Joe is cranky and irritible, and Garland isn’t great at dealing with the situation, so it’s not all smiles and laughter between them. Still, the article is spin, or to be blunt, lies.
Two astonishingly weak characters at the top of the U.S. Federal Govt. Who will blink first?
This isn't our father's WSJ. It is not recognizable as the former news source of yore.
Bull.. that’s all I have to say about this dreck. Meritless does not take a dump without getting sign-off by ChinaJoe’s handlers.
What's going on in the donkey cart is buyer's remorse, they thought Joe would be long gone by now, but they didn't count on Dr. JekILL.
A couple of turds in the same toilet bowl💩💩
He saw Barr once during his presidency.
