It confused me to, at first. I thought the headline meant the cigarette thief was suing. No, he is not suing. She will be suing because of the store’s policy to fire any employee who interferes with a shoplifter. Not nice, not fair, not even logical, but I don’t think she has a case. This was the company policy she agreed to when she began working there.

No, this predates that insanity. This sort of give up before the fight was caused by lawyers who refuse to fight and won’t allow the company to spend $$ to hire outside lawyers to fight. They are cowards and skinflints — can’t risk being showed up as the losers they are.

Circle K is a terrible company. They bought up some good places and then converted them to garbage models. They do not take care of things, and they pretend that they have customer service, but they do not. Avoid them.
