Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has unaffiliated himself with his Florida political committee and the millions of dollars in its war chest, marking one of the last steps needed before he announces his likely presidential bid.
Federal law prohibits politicians from transferring funds from state accounts to a presidential campaign one, and candidates are generally barred from raising money through their state accounts.
Instead, DeSantis could avoid scrutiny by ceding control of the state account before moving the money into a PAC that supports his candidacy.

He’s done a few good things in FL but he’s not the answer nationally.
It’s a shame DeSantis is surrounded by people giving him bad advice. He should WAIT until 2028 and finish his current term as governor. His eventual loss to Trump will have a negative impact any future runs for Prez.
desantis has courted the deep swamp, good ole boy GOPe network and big money, hedgefund people for support and money.
All the while deliberately lying to people he's not intent on running for president, even back when when he was running for re-election.

Trump courted all the same folks, though not for funding.
I’m 100% fine with DeSantis playing the game as necessary to get into office. This isn’t 1800, and you can’t win a nomination with whistle stop speeches and shaking farmers’ hands.
I voted for Trump, but the left has succeeded in destroying his chances. If in no other way than creating a viable narrative to cover another fraudulent election.
DeSantis has none of that baggage.

The title of the article never mentioned money laundering.
His name should be written as DeSantis, not desantis.
DeSantis wasn't as well known to Florida voters when he ran for governor in 2018 as he was when he ran for re-election in 2022.

Money laundering is not what occured.
This involves the conversion of state election campaign funds, to presidential campaign funds, which is prohibited by FEC regulations.
I suppose I could have used 'illegally changes' instead of launders.
So, will you, or any other desantis supporter, try to describe what desantis did?
