An Egyptian lawyer has filed a case with the Public Prosecutor to close the Netflix platform after the trailer of “Queen Cleopatra" was released, which depicts the Greek historical figure as a black-skinned woman.
According to Egypt Independent, Mahmoud al-Semary demanded that all legal measures be taken against those responsible for the documentary and the management of the streaming platform for its participation in “this crime.” He also called for an investigation and for Netflix to be blocked in Egypt.
The complaint submitted against the streaming platform said that "most of what Netflix platform displays contradicts Islamic and societal values and principles, especially Egyptian ones."
It added that the platform displayed advertisements that attracted millions of people in the world to watch the documentary Queen Cleopatra, who was of Greek origin depicting her as black woman, unlike Egyptian history and civilization.
The case said that the documentary promotes Afrocentrism that is widely spread on social media, which have slogans and writings aimed at distorting and obliterating the Egyptian identity.
The complaint continued addressing Public Prosecution: "In order to preserve the Egyptian national and cultural identity among Egyptians all over the world and take pride in it, and to consolidate the spirit of belonging to the homeland, and accordingly we ask and seek you to take the necessary legal measures against this platform."
It demanded stopping broadcasts showing all works aimed at obliterating and distorting the Egyptian identity, through films aimed at falsifying and distorting history in Egypt.
The complaint accused makers of the documentary and platform management of forgery.
I think Islam created the empire through its trading in gold and human flesh, after all, mansu Musa was one of the greatest traders of both gold and human flesh.
The Arabs were the first to create the trans sahara slave trade routes and with the advent of Mohammed, the routes practice and business were absorbed by Islam.
The Arab routes pre existed Christ.
Its this sphere of business that brought the Islamic culture, traditions, and infrastructure to Mali.
That’s the root and foothold of today’s problems in Mali.
slavery was the norm for 10,000+ years everywhere in the world until white men in America and Europe stopped it.
James Cone created black liberation theology. He’s a Marxist, thusly the attack on white Christian capitalists through his hate mongering. This is the root of Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of 20 years. Oprah Winfrey was there too...
Poverty makes stupid people do stupid things. I’ve seen it first hand in Liberia, West Africa.
When law fails and breaks down you see the death of rights and rise of tribalism.
In America, the obamanites have used cultural Marxism to pierce the American social fabric by putting the various tribal groups against one another, and all against the white and Christian capitalists.
Never has there been a nation that has lifted a nation of people from ignorance and into prosperity than the USA.
Imo, the first step to removing the rot is to remove the obamian philosophies through education.
That’s pretty true, initiated by parliamentary action in great Britain. They banned it at the height of their power banning it in all their colonial holdings from sea to sea.
In contrast, the world of Islam said f/you., those people have no rights. Slavery continues in over ten African nations today.
Mickey Rooney as the Japanese caricature in Breakfast at Tiffany's
Better was Othello with Laurence Olivier as a "Moor"
Though in BOTH these cases, these were fictional characters - just like Ariel (the little mermaid) or the MCU Heimdall - so fine
Oh and for the MCU - we have white actors playing Brown or Asian characters like Wanda Maximmoff and the Ancient One
BAD was "Anna and the King of Siam" - where Yul Brynner or Rex Harrison played Mon-Thai kings
BAD: the "Gods of Egypt" which was complete white-washing of Egyptians
Worst: John Wayne as Genghis Khan - he didn't even attempt to be like Chingiz! Temüjin
Burt Lancaster as Jim Thorpe?
It is being sold as a documentary ie a version of the truth not a fiction account of a piece of the nation’s history.
They refuse to put upwiththe Hamilton-ization of their history or degradation of their monuments.
Perhaps your French blood is Norman. But, the Normans were “north men,” descendants of Vikings who pillaged the French coast.
People could sue. There is no will in the west to save their culture.
you are correct about Musa’s wealth — though I would note that his empire was created by his grand or great-grandfather who was supposed to have been of traditional west African religion. It may be that he was Muslim.
I would disagree about the statement “the Arab routes pre-existed Christ” — the “Arabs” as we know them only took over west of the Sinai after the Arab Empire. The Nabateans (proto-Arabs?) didn’t have the strength to get to Egypt.
But the trans-Saharan slave routes were there, yes. Berbers and Egyptians and Nubians and Kushites ran them
Yes and no.
technically in ancient India there weren’t slaves - but the shudra caste were bonded laborers who weren’t bought or sold, but still lived miserable lives.
And slavery was ended in places where Christianity took hold — Europe ended slavery in the 5th century. Ditto for North Africa, Egypt and the Levant and Anatolia —> where Christianity went, there slavery ended (albeit slowly).
We have to thanks Wilberforce for the ending of black slavery.
how to stop the prejudices on both sides?
I mean we read of old white guys shooting a black kid through the door because the old guy was scared. the Old guy probably watched the news and saw black kids attacking and was justifiably scared (but not justified in shooting)
This is a chicken and egg situation --> many white people are scared of black men and many innocent black men get the brunt of this prejudice. We can't say "black people police yourself" only as that black guy may be someone in a separate black, law-abiding, hard-working community and we can't ask him to police people in say downtown Detroit.
At the same time Al Sharpton etc. stoke up black fears
so this is a spiral of negative reinforcement
It depends on how you look at it.
Whites scared by blacks?
Rightfully so.
why are there more black kids in jail learning new trades as opposed to being in college learning useful skills necessary to a meaningful productive life in society?
Why do the blacks have a monopoly on homicide without normalizing the populations?
Why is it...
I view that much of the problem is rooted in government intermeddling, specifically LBJ’s great new society which destroyed the black families. This act created fertile ground for the obamanites and the growth of cultural Marxism, needless to say BLM
You have to remember these people have hung onto their culture and in the absence of something better they regress to being africans
Tribal idiots.
Most of them are not Americans by any stretch, they’ve been steeped in the shit of the black race biters, greatest being BHO.
It is revisionist history. Propaganda.
I know. So what? Don’t watch it.
My commentary was regarding the “outrage” over stuff that doesn’t matter.
Artistic liberty with historical movies is a given. You don’t sue someone because you don’t like their art. You simply don’t patronize it.
So much of the outrage these days is manufactured. People get upset over things that don’t happen all that much, and even when they do—it doesn’t impact 99.99% of the population.
If a director wants to portray Cleopatra as a 3 foot tall Amazonian pygmy, who cares? There are so many other options out there.
How is this different than Elizabeth Taylor acting as the Egyptian queen? Talk about incorrect depictions!
That would be fun to watch.
You miss my point.
It’s not that the depiction is accurate. I think we can all agree that it is not. It’s about the fake outrage over this stuff—the guy getting worked up to the point of a lawsuit is just bizarre. It used to be that a bad review was enough “revenge.” What “standing” does this guy have? What are his alleged “damages?”
I don’t think “butt hurt” is a case for legal standing or damages.
I don’t give a hoot about what some director thinks. I watch stuff that is interesting. And an awful lot of what I watch is not on Netflix. As soon as they crackdown on password sharing...my NTFX days are over. Ha Ha.

I am a Kraut, so I doubt that I have any Norman blood.
It propagates falsehood. How do you think we got to the social conditions we now face? It was accomplished through a continuous stream of propaganda. If this sort of thing doesn’t upset you, then you just might be part of the problem.
