Russia can’t meet India arms deliveries due to Ukraine war, Indian Air Force says

Russia is unable to honor its arms delivery commitments to India because of the war in Ukraine, the Indian Air Force (IAF) said, placing a potential strain on New Delhi’s relationship with its largest defense supplier as Moscow attempts to ramp up weapons production.

An IAF representative told an Indian parliamentary committee that due to the Ukraine war a “major delivery” from Moscow “is not going to take place.”

The admission, published in a report by India’s lower house of parliament on Tuesday, is the first official confirmation by Indian authorities amid swirling rumors and reports in local media suggesting shortcomings in Russian capacity.

“They have given us in writing that they are not able to deliver it,” the representative said, according to the report.

...Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a large-scale effort to build up capacity to produce more weapons for the war in a move he said was “urgently needed.”

Putin’s order also followed repeated complaints by Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin that his mercenaries were not receiving sufficient munitions in their prolonged battle for the eastern city of Bakhmut.

...Russia “is no longer a reliable weapons supplier” and Indian representatives are “coming to understand that there could be real benefits for them (in finding other markets),”

The T-62/T-55 tanks could be effective if they attacked en masse. They sure built a lot of them.

True, but I'm sure tank crews would rather have the additional protection of being in a T-90.

“Quantity has a quality all it’s own.”

Massing the tanks in preparation for an attack would make them easy targets

Right. Armor will always need air cover when on the offensive. That is a given.

India has more T-90’s than anyone, certainly many more than Russia. Over 2000 units in service.

And another 2000+ T-72’s in various states of upgrade.

We knew this was coming, and Putin’s embrace by Xi is not going to endear Russia to India for very long. India will up its game on improving its own domestic military industry and making additional agreements with European and Israeli suppliers.

Russia is Libya with snow.

A horribly corrupt dictatorship presiding over the dissolution of its nation.

But with nukes.

Quantity has a quality all it’s own.

Tells much about a society that places so little value on the lives of the soldiers.

Why are CNN articles on any subject whatsoever permitted on FR? It is a clear effort to generate views and thus advertising revenue for the company, that then flows as Dem donations from salary recipients.

Russia’s lack of air superiority is a big problem for them. The other is UKRs extremely accurate artillery .

It seems quite interesting, as one saw with the Coronavirus “event” which lasted about three years, that fault lines are exposed via those who post here, CNN and MSN versus more conservative sources, not to mention original sources.

India needs the weapons to confront China. Russians weapons don’t work. Our arms industry should crank up to meet the demand-to hell with world opinion.

In the U.S. the blacks and Jooz vote democrat-go figure.

well do remember that India’s foes are Pakistan and China, not the USA or any western country.

The failure of Russian arms in Ukraine is going to prompt India to move away from Russian weaponry

Jooz remember the exclusion status from holocaust era.
Democrats pretend to be the inclusivity party which is why non-European immigrants (90%+ of new immigrants) and jooz vote democrat, even if it hurts their pocket book.

In reality GOP is more inclusive than democrats who are hell bent on classifying people based on race and gender and other things.
