NCCAH is relatively common, particularly among Italians and Ashkenazi Jews (my children are descended from both); statistically, about 1:200 people. Most people, like my husband and I, live their whole lives not knowing they have it. When two carriers reproduce, it increases the likelihood that this recessive gene becomes manifest.
My daughter’s specific variant impacts less than 1/10th of 1% of the population, a very small number. That is why I call this explosion of kids identifying as trans as pretenders. The large majority are just confused, groomed, or need therapy. Even kids who may be experiencing adrenal surges during puberty usually level out by 21 to 24 years old and the dysphoria goes away, which is why I am enraged that clinics are butchering children. That is not based on science at all, and I spent years learning about and studying these issues in an attempt to find a cure.
To give you an idea of how much the endocrine system in general, and the adrenal system specifically, can impact a person, women who go manic during post-partum depression and kill their children are experiencing adrenal deficiencies or thyroid issues.
My youngest son also has it, but in his case, it resulted in premature bone maturation and sterility (different variant emerged). No gender dysphoria.
