Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that the only way for Moscow to ensure a lasting peace with Ukraine was to push back the borders of hostile states as far as possible, even if that meant the frontiers of NATO member Poland.

A number of people on the FR think that Russia will become all sweetness and light if Putin is deposed. They are doomed to disappointment.

Planting seeds for the next generation, so that even if Russia loses this round, they will just come back later.
If Russia continues to be isolated, the next generation will be fed the kind of “stabbed in the back” crap that the Germans were fed after WWI, and we all know what that led to.
Russia has no designs on occupying Polish territory, I think this threat is more of a warning to Poland that if they continue to play lackey of the US, they can expect Russian military retaliation on their homeland. Putin knows the Euro public hasn’t the stomach for a land war in Europe, and is counting on that to dissuade them from further escalation.
The first Russian Marine that steps one boot into Poland will be dead before his second boot hits the ground. NATO would most assuredly become involved. America as well, big time. Years ago Chicago had the largest Polish population in the world, outside of Warsaw itself. A fact one must consider...
Hate to say it, but we need to GTFO of the bullpucky in Ukraine! Bring resources and funds back home, double up the CoastGuard and Navy budget and quadruple down on boarder protection. Our enemy is not Russia or China, it’s the corruption within our existing boarders.
Poland will fight tooth and nail against Putan, and they will easily win an invasion. Putan is on his final conquest from his KGB days and personal health, he knows his days are short but wants to be remembered like Stalin or Lenin was for his own glory before he takes the big sleep.
Our true fight that we need to focus on is the parts between Canada and Mexico.
One cannot build up others, if one is collapsing within.
