US farmers sound alarm on single-most catastrophic thing headed for corn crops
Fox News ^ | 2/1/23 | risten Altus

A regulatory move within Mexico’s agricultural sector has U.S. farmers concerned it will "corn-er" their corn crop production.

"Most farmers, my generation and younger, have never even used conventional corn. We're not set up to do it. We don't have the equipment to do it," Hinkel Farms' Elizabeth Hinkel told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth on "Mornings with Maria" Tuesday. "So it would be a huge investment if we had to go back to growing conventional. And on top of that, our yields would be decreased."

American farmers are headed to Capitol Hill to voice concerns about Mexico’s proposed ban on U.S. imports of genetically modified corn, reportedly warning the move could become the most catastrophic thing to happen to corn farmers.

Oops... Retry that:

The restoration of the American Chesnut forest may be realized in my lifetime and I’m excited by that.

That's pretty cool!

My Dad was a Research Forestry Prof. (he also taught) who did a lot with Black Walnut. There, one is usually looking at 60 years or more for a return.

I have a Black Walnut in my yard in an almost ideal spot and I MAY live long enough to see it harvested...

If you live or hike in areas where undiscovered wild chestnuts might be located, learn how to identify and report them here to the American Chestnut Foundation.

I’m not sure that genetically modified food is a good thing

It's not. You have no idea. The road back would be painful enough, but we haven't yet crossed that Rubicon, corporate control over policy matters being so influential.

Some of what we're blaming on the jabs (not diminishing jab impacts at all) is, in fact, just fallout from so-called GMO...the latter overwhelmingly being a marketing term for 'Glyphosate (Roundup) Tolerant' & '2, 4-D Tolerant'. But it's only one link in a very long chain of bad health policy moves in this country. We've already seen life expectancy plateau and drop in recent years even without the virus.

That may very well be the case.

That is the fault of the mills and the farmers themselves. Another fact - Mexico isn’t the only nation that rejects GMO corn (and other products). There is still quite a bit of non-GMO corn farming being done.

What ever happened to producing what customers want vs trying to get the government to force customers to take what you demand they have?

That would definitely help. There are also mandates on the inclusion of ethanol in fuel - eliminate those too.

Yep - kind of defeats the entire purpose of increased production when you get far less for the product.

Only if you consider the age-old selective breeding to be “GMO”. Big difference between that practice and injecting DNA from other organisms into plant cells to literally alter the genetics.

Selective breeding..
Seed and plant splicing...
All this modifies the genetic makeup of the plant or animal...
Everything we eat is genetically modified....

"Next, they will be slipping a little bit of bug into our snack stuff. And we won’t have a choice there, either."

Chances are if you've ever eaten anything red, you've already eaten cochineal, which is, "bug stuff." Per the wikipedia entry, "Together with ammonium carmine, they can be found in meat, sausages, processed poultry products (meat products cannot be colored in the United States unless they are labeled as such), surimi, marinades, alcoholic drinks, bakery products and toppings, cookies, desserts, icings, pie fillings, jams, preserves, gelatin desserts, juice beverages, varieties of cheddar cheese and other dairy products, sauces, and sweets."

Chamber of Commerce is against GMO corn?

Or are you just drinking the fermented product of some of that GMO corn?
