Russia readying quiet mobilization of 700,000 troops for Ukraine war: report

Russian President Vladimir Putin will call up hundreds of thousands of additional troops to continue trying to invade Ukraine this month — a move that will be done quietly.

The muted mobilization was reported by Russian independent outlet Volya last week, citing sources in the Russian military’s General Staff.

“The Ministry of Defense needs to recruit about 700,000 more people for the war by February,” the outlet reported, adding, “[O]fficials, politicians and generals will publicly assert that there is no mobilization.”

A country doesn’t ‘quietly’ call up 700,000 people.

We have beavers stationed at the north, missiles that sank the Muskva in the south, well mauled Wagners to the east. What else do we need? ;-)

His entire military was 1.5 million before Ukraine.

So, they plan to double the size of their military?

I would imagine that is going to consume a ton of resources and cause some economic issues. Taking another 700,000 working age men out of the workforce will make that even more difficult.

This represents withdrawing about 5-6% of the core workforce in the past five months. That would be stripping about 3.5 million out of the US economy. (10 million were drafted in WWII.)

I am not sure the people peddling these stories have thought about the logistics of thief claims.

FYI......Volya’s report has not been confirmed by Russia, Ukraine or Western intelligence sources according to Sun and other sources.

They are planning for a US NATO escalation.. I don’t blame them. Keep in mind deployed troops in Ukraine are about 15 percent of his military…wise move if US NATO crosses the line.

Nah, it seems they are looking to get back up to the 1.5 million level, according to Putin’s recent comments. Previously reports were talking about mobilizing 500,000 more, but this says 700,000. So it would appear that either through casualties or expiring service contracts, they are down from 1.5 million to only 800k-1 million right now.

If these new troops don’t do any better than the last ones Putin will really be toast.

Well, now you are acting like a Ukie. There are two sides to this war, both sides see justification, sorry , there is no justification for war, war, war.

That said, It is obvious the West is intent on escalating, and examining the current line up, Vlad wins. Both sides have no support from me, I see this “ ballgame” as a clear win for Vlad. Not the US’s fight.

Sit back and watch the show….Soledad is liberated, Bakmut next? The Ukies are spent, now a welfare nation. One thing is clear to me:

Ukraine 1991-2023 RIP , the quicker the better.

And you expect NATO to cross the border? I don’t see any reason for that. Unless Belarus does something stupid.

I think the folks running Russia are a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them.

I don’t think the west is going to be excited about the carnage that would result from a Russian victory. The slaughter is bad enough already.

And…I would hate to be the Russian soldier trying to occupy Kiev. That’s going to make 2005 Iraq look like Disney World.

There are a lot of Russian arms and legs missing in these conscripts’ future. Does Russia have a “wounded warriors” foundation? They are going to need it.

The Poles have been calling up men for training for months. They are preparing for war.

When NATO is fully involved and nukes start flying I hope all the Russophobe warmongers here that support Biden and Ukraine are the first to be involved.

The morons that encouraged this to go on and thought escalation was safe...those should be at the front of the line.

If our current evil demented leader wasn’t having the time of his life playing war games...well actually I think Moscow has that nuclear sub we can’t find right off the east coast...and hopefully our moron leader won’t have time to be bunkered.

Play with fire, neocons. Enjoy your blowback.
I know and understand Russian culture. They truly are prepared for any outcome, as Putin said.
