… To inspire people, we need to tell a story not of sacrifice and deprivation but of opportunity and improvement in our lives, our health and our well-being—a story of humans flourishing in a post-fossil-fuel age.
The language we use for climate solutions can exacerbate the cultural divide. Terms such as “regulate,” “restrict,” “cut,” “control” and “tax” are unpopular, especially among conservatives. Perhaps people would be more likely to support solutions described with words such as “innovation,” “entrepreneurship,” “ingenuity,” “market-based” and “competing in the global clean energy race.” The fact that the first significant U.S. climate policy is called the Inflation Reduction Act is another example of how word choice matters. The name itself helped to gain the crucial support of Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, the swing vote. The name may also have made the legislation more appealing to the many Americans who worry about climate change but rank it below inflation and the economy on their list of priorities.
Word choice is part of the broader set of communication challenges we must face to build the political will needed to swiftly address the climate crisis. We can group the challenges into disinformation, misconceptions and the pigeonholing of climate change as an environmental issue.
Addressing climate communication challenges could help us build enough political will in time to blunt the worst climate change effects. People must grasp the urgency of the choice we face between a future with a little more warming and global catastrophe. And they need to recognize that the choices we make now will determine our fate.

“The Right Words Are Crucial to Solving Climate Change”
Translation: We need to come up with better word salads to bamboozle the unwashed masses.
Ditto.
You put it concisely last week..
"No fossil fuels means no food."
And that's what the WEF elites want, starvation leads to absolute control of the masses.
i.e. Lie
It’s called “fighting hot air with hot air.”
And the right words that will solve climate change are;”it’s all a lie”.
Total B S
It used to be an interesting and non-political magazine. It’s now just propaganda.
“”I can’t believe it is the same magazine I used to subscribe to when I was in high school””
Mega Dittos
While not a science major, I adored learning about the classic scientific method, and how, when used consistently, can explain and discover much. It has been 3 or more decades since I purposefully tried to access Scientific American. In the early days some of Scientific American was just above my level, and it made me research more, raise my own level of understanding and knowledge. Today, I only read it to verify that there is no real science in Scientific American.
My words would be, “Pull your heads out of your asses, people and get a real job.”
“… To inspire people, we need to tell a story not of sacrifice and deprivation but of opportunity and improvement in our lives, our health and our well-being—a story of humans flourishing in a post-fossil-fuel age.”
Translation: The lies they have been using to sell climate change are not working any more. They need to go full Nazi or Soviet with their message and make up new, greater, bigger, gigantic, humongous lies. The bigger the lie, the easier it is to sell.
Don’t believe me? They have already sold the lie to half the population despite all their predictions for the past 50 years falling flat, yet that same 50% still believes the lie. But to get the other 50% on board they need to create a new marketing strategy. Bigger and better lies.
“Here are the “right” words... STFU, Susan ya dolt”
Susan’s “positive relocation” sounds a bit like “resettling the Jews” and then “giving each a nine warm shower bath” sounded in 1943 Germany.
What evidence may be cited as man’s successful efforts to curb “weather extremes”? Assuming uninimity of purpose, could we if we wanted to? The earth is a dynamic planet that naturally emits tons of co2 daily.
You forgot this one. “We have only _______(fill in the blank) years to save the planet.”
True, but I know at least one woman who would be so excited by this that, if she could, her vagina would become ‘moist’.People love this fascist ‘sacrifice your life, liberty, and happiness for the greater good bullshit. It just has to be packaged in the correct wokist language. My country has been ruined by my government. One can only hope for some sort of apocalyptic event.
Precisely. Lie, manipulate, distort, deceive, etc…
Soviet style science . I saw this issue cover and it turned my stomach.
The old gotta lie better routine.
Kisin is actually a comedian. This was a speech at a college. As a former Soviet Citizen he knows a thing or two about tyranny.
