A House Republican who was one of the nearly two dozen holdouts who demanded concessions in order to vote for Rep. Kevin McCarthy as speaker warned Sunday that he and others plan to hold the California Republican to his word.
“I’m not going to play the ‘what if’ games on how we’re going to use the tools of the House to make sure that we enforce the terms of the agreement,” Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “But we will use the tools of the House to enforce the terms of the agreement.”
Mr. McCarthy was forced to make major concessions, including weakening his own position by allowing any one of his members to call for a vote on his ouster in order to win over Mr. Roy and others in the conservative House Freedom Caucus and clench the speaker’s gavel after 15th speakership ballots held over five days.
Mr. McCarthy made a host of deals — some of which are still not known publicly — with the conservative holdouts in order to gain enough support under his slim majority. That included promises on paring back federal spending and garnering GOP policy victories potentially by using must-pass legislation as leverage, such as government funding and debt limit increase deadlines.
Mr. Roy argued that bitter, intraparty squabbles and holding Mr. McCarthy’s feet to the fire last week was necessary because it forced him to give in to their demands.

Do we all trust the World Economic Forum?
I hope Kevin has been told Klaus doesn’t run the show anymore so to speak.
Now that he is the speaker of the house what can be done to force him to adopt the rules that he actually agreed to in negotiations??
Nothing.
Motion to vacate is not available at this point. So they cannot use that to enforce anything.
The problem lays in the fact that many voters just vote for who they know, or what their party affiliation is. And the politicians bank on that ...voter apathy/ignorance. When is the last time many voters actually spent the time to see what their Congress person voted for or what bills they were sponsoring??
Jumping in front of a camera like MTG, AOC or Boebert doesn’t equate to being an effective legislator. And unfortunately many of our Congress people are NOT effective but sure are media hounds...:)
The deal is pathetic. It did not include the most important “demand” of Tucker Carlson: public release of all files and videos from January 6th.
we can rule the money pot but biden will just steal what he wants by executive order.
I wouldn't trust McCarthy in an outhouse with a muzzle on.
You go chip, god speed
