Goldman Sachs is preparing for more job cuts in the near future, according to CEO David Solomon.
“We are conducting a careful review and while discussions are still ongoing, we anticipate our headcount reduction will take place in the first half of January,” Solomon explained in a year-end note to employees, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
“There are a variety of factors impacting the business landscape, including tightening monetary conditions that are slowing down economic activity. For our leadership team, the focus is on preparing the firm to weather these headwinds,” he added

It depends on one’s line of work, but it’s easy to tell if someone isn’t working in my field. Metric based data analysis is performed and compared.
Many corporate jobs are just make work jobs for minorities and women.
Do you want an incompetent woman or black doing electrical engineering on the grid…no. You put them in the Call Center, Diversity, HR, and useless middle management.
Put George Santos on it asap. He’s a sort of financial miracle-worker. Just ask him.
I don’t want any incompetent person doing ANY engineering. However, your assessment and description is accurate in many cases.
I’m referring to the “diverse” hirings. I know some highly intelligent blacks and females, but most in my field are white males. It’s obvious when someone is hired based on merit vs melanin or sitting to pee.
When the CEO of my former employer stated we needed our workforce to resemble our community, I knew it was time to leave. I’m outside Philly.
In my field, hiring diverse people means white guys need to do more work.
People who have been paying attention have been saying this for a few months now. 2023 looks to be the year of the lay-offs. I believe it will be middle management that takes a major hit. Some of those D.I.E. HR managers may find they have to make do with one assistant and a staff of four, rather than the two assistants and staff of ten they currently manage.
So there will be job cuts in a shrinking economy. Who knew? Do you have to go to college to become so prescient?
