Haiti in chaos: Capital is taken over by gangs who murder and kidnap at will - with families forced to listen to hostages being gang-raped until they pay ransoms of up to $1million

It was once a symbol of hope. Haiti: the first black republic and first Caribbean state to declare independence. Now, it symbolises only death and despair.

The poorest nation in the Western hemisphere, devastated by disasters both natural and man-made, plagued by disease, stalked by hunger, and now over-run by gangs.

There has effectively been no government here since President Jovenel Moise was assassinated last year, a crime which continues to go unpunished.

Into that power vacuum have moved hundreds of highly organised and extremely violent criminal groups which often have links to politicians and police - meaning they are free to kidnap, murder and commit atrocities such as gang rapes at will.

Victims have told of being forced to listen to their loved ones being raped until they pay ransoms, which can reach up to $1million.

In one ten-day orgy of violence in the capital Port-au-Prince back in July, 300 people were killed and at least 50 women and girls were subjected to rapes - many of which happened in front of their young children.

One woman recalled how four men raped her in front of her three-year-old daughter, with the young girl stabbed when she wouldn't stop crying.

Haiti's gang problem is nothing new, but a confluence of recent disasters has caused it to become much more widespread and dangerous.

Many of the country's gangs were first organised by political leaders such Francois 'Papa Doc' Duvalier who created his own paramilitary group to protect himself following and attempted coup in 1958.

When the Dominicans were discussing building the wall the name Hadrian kept coming up, and for similar reasons.

I was thinking of doing what blacks are doing.

I’m going to take a traditional black role.
I’m thinking Dolemite or Super Fly...

Same island, and yet the massive discrepancy.

Still, tons of dumbass white people here think everyone’s the same.

Just call it another Epstein Island. The Clintons, the Gates, etc can all ‘dip their beaks’ (and part of the ‘dipping’ will be the young girls) and come away with a few more billions. After all, it’s just sex (that’s what all the Clinton acolytes kept repeating over and over). Women’s rights are flushed away when a democRAT is involved. With no morals, souls, or a conscience, anyone is fair game.

It was once a symbol of hope. When has Haiti ever been a symbol of hope. The first dictator of independent Haiti murdered all the French to the last woman and child. If anything Haiti was a warning to the South Slave Power to resist emapication or you will end up the French who did not escape in time.

Haiti has no tradition of property, contracts, or law despite over 200 years of independence to do it. They need to be recolonized for maybe fifty years.

RE: Superfly....

If they cast you in the remake and let you keep the classic Curtis Mayfield soundtrack you’ll be great.

I read a book about economic development. Haiti has the same exact level of development as the region of Africa the slaves who ended up on San Dominigue came from. Despite being away from Africa for hundreds of years, Haiti is just another Sub-Saharan armpit country.

I think the Marines tried to run the place for a few decades. They could not make q dent in the dysfunction.

A lot of this started in February 8 1986 and lasted for several months.
The CIA took Baby doc,Duvalier to France. The people hated baby doc but also feared him. He kept the peace and Haiti was actually a very safe place to be due to baby docs iron clad hold on the population.
Was it a good thing, probably not,did it work,it sure did.
The CIA as we know is mandated to create chaos in country after country, they sure achieved their goal in Haiti its still going on 36 years later.not much has changed except things got much worse, chaos is every where,CIA should be proud.
I never went back after the revolution.

It was never a symbol of hope. Sending money will not make Haiti a safe, functional country.

Yes.
Many of the uninformed don’t know that it is half of the island, with the other half being the Dominican Republic, which is a relatively prosperous island paradise.

Who knows. The US and Canada were trying to line up other countries to join “the force” is what I read last month.

They intend to go in but they figure they need to condition you into accepting it so we read this stuff in the media.

In the coming weeks I guess they will tell us their plans for the international force going into Haiti.
