Nothing wrong with saying that. But he didn’t say that was the cure.
“ And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
Jefferson…a Founding Father and one of the significant authors of the Constitution that is now in such discussion here.
The Constitution HAS been abrogated and is already non-functioning, having been rendered so by a a political faction that effectively took control of the government via a lawfare coup d’etat. After doing so, they proceeded to prove it by again manipulating and engaging in fraud in the succeeding election.
The Constitution is already non-functional. It is not guiding the administration, the separation of powers has been bludgeoned non-sensical at this point. And even in the point that led to this discussion, the First Amendment has been openly strangled by the government of United States for the purpose of ensuring that elections would not threaten their hold on governmental power.
This discussion about whether Trump is calling for a suspension of the Constitution is pedantic at best, and more to the point, utterly ridiculous. The Constitution no longer exists as a governing document as it was openly abrogated - trashed - many times over by the current ruling junta. If we are worried about the Constitution we should be concerned with how it will be RESTORED. And that will require the forcible removal of the current government that burned it to the ground. And THAT will require extra-Constitutional means. (Such as described in the opening quotation).
