YUP; married my wife when she was young, fit, and very active.
2 kids later, then arthritis, then a more sedentary job, then the years piled up, and to put it bluntly my wife is now what folks call fat.
When we are out and about (I always make her take my left arm) I have heard comments like “how did something like that get a guy like him”.
And Worse!
I guess I am not to bad looking and still very fit for my age but I never considered myself all that.
I still get hit on by younger women when I’m out alone, but just figure those women need a better eyeglass prescription or are just getting desperate in their old age of 35 to 45.
I have always told my wife I didn’t marry her because of what she looked like but because of WHO SHE IS.
My wife is the most beautiful, intelligent, vivacious woman I have ever known or will ever know, don’t want anything else - don’t need anything else!
47 years now and looking forward to the next 47.
Sounds like your Husband was an outstanding man who (just like me) managed to sneak in there and grab the most BEAUTIFUL,INTELLIGENT, CAREING WOMAN in the world!
Sorry for your loss, my greatest fear is being left behind by my beautiful wife (her health has not been good the last few years) and I am pretty sure that there is no one else out there who could even come close to her beauty, grace, and intellect.
It will be lonely out there but we just deal with the hand we are delt and go on until we are also called.

You and your wife are blessed to have one another. True love sees what may be hidden from the world. The same can be said of how Christ sees us.
I met my husband when he was 22. He died at the age of 67. Sure over the years he aged but it still always startled me when something brought that to my attention. All in all he wore getting older very well. That is one reason his death came as such a shock.
I pray you and your wife have many more years together.
