βOne quarter of the Northern hemisphere is underlain by permanently frozen ground, referred to as permafrost. Due to climate warming, irreversibly thawing permafrost is releasing organic matter frozen for up to a million years,β said an abstract of the study posted on BioRxiv, which publishes study pre-prints. In the old days they just blamed things like this on radiation and stuff. That's how we got Godzilla and those guys.

The study framed the need to study the viruses and bring them to life under strict laboratory conditions as necessary to address prevention should they become active and a public health threat through, for example, such activities as open-pit mining in areas of what once was permafrost. That worked great in the Wuhan Lab. They took a virus that was in the bat population and modified it to be infectious in humans.
Oddly any viruses thawing out of the permafrost that humans can contract we have already contracted in the past and have much genetic immunity today. Otherwise we would all be dead today as most of Europe was permafrost 20,000 years ago and it thawed and we did not die.
I hate fear PORN.

Well, it’s nothing a huge pile of money spent on research can’t fix, I suppose. At least we’ll be sure to release something that, currently, remains buried.

As long as it’s the viruses themselves that are zombies.
Not viruses that can turn PEOPLE into zombies.
If that’s the case, I’m glad I read The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.
