Railway Strike Seen as Increasingly Inevitable, Threatens to Derail Economy Ahead of Holidays
Breitbart ^ | 11/23/2022 | Nick Gilbertson

A national freight rail strike is viewed as increasingly inevitable as four rail worker labor unions have rejected a tentative agreement with rail companies.

In September, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh brokered a tentative deal between rail unions and rail carriers while President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were out of town. Union concerns centered around sick time and scheduling, and Walsh’s work appeared to have avoided a strike that had the potential for far-reaching consequences on the American economy. However, the deal has fallen to pieces, and the clock is ticking as a December 9 strike looms.

A railroad strike is when it gets real. The last strike was in 1992, and lasted only two days before congress intervened.

Estimated losses today would be a minimum of $2b/day.

I, for one, hope they strike. This slow death is not good. Can’t be rebuilt until broken completely and bring people to their senses.
Way too much coddling of the fringe masses is not a good thing and is just a distraction to what needs to be done.

“The last strike was in 1992, and lasted only two days before congress intervened.”

I don’t know the technicalities, but I am sure the DC Deep State crowd will declare an emergency, blame it on white supremacist extremists, and order the workers back to work.

I assume this wasn’t from the platform adopted at the Dem. National Convention. Better grammar.

Scary stuff.

But as psychologist Dr.Ray Guarendi said: “It has been clinically proven anxiety and anger are antithetical.”

So get angry everyone.

Under U.S. railroad law, Congress has the power to impose a settlement on the railroad industry and its unions.

You can pretty much take it to the bank that this will happen before Congress is out of session on December 15th, if the railroad unions strike.

Railroads continue to offer zero paid sick days. I’d vote to strike too.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/second-railroad-union-rejects-paid-sick-time-deal-adding-to-strike-worries

“The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen said nearly 61 percent of the workers who voted opposed the five-year contract even though it included 24 percent raises and $5,000 in bonuses. It is the second rail union to reject a deal this month.”

The article also states that in the past the Unions have opted for the increase in pay rather than the paid sick leave. I doubt that now they will go with paid sick leave but lower wages.

I will watch this and sell my stock before the strike if it happens. The stocks will drop and I figure then to buy back with added shares.
