The man arrested in the Colorado Springs gay nightclub shooting appears to have links to the Mormon church through his mother.
One post in July last year came weeks after Aldrich was arrested for allegedly threatening to harm his mother with a bomb and weapons.
"Hello Sisters. Does anyone know of a fantastic defense attorney? I ask this with a heavy heart but my family really needs some help at this time. We have cash to retain good counsel. Thank you," she wrote.
In February, Voepel asked if anyone could recommend "a great trauma/ptsd therapist?" In a comment, she said it was for a 21-year-old, the age Aldrich was at the time.
And in May, she wrote: "Can anybody refer my son to a private boxing coach? He's 6'6" tall and hits like a freight train.

In summary: “My son has threatened to harm me, he really needs a therapist — and does anyone know where he could get boxing lessons?”
So they jump to create some link to a church even though the guy was crazy and his mother involved in the church was looking to get help for him. Therefore this has nothing to do with the church. Please don’t be fooled by the constant attempt to destroy religion of any kind.

Exactly. His mother happens to have a religious preference and they mention it in the headline,...why. The story doesn’t really address why this is relevant, it just throws it out there in order to cast suspicion on conservatives.

Oh I don’t imagine for a second that the Mormon Church will get the blame, but I do think that this could explain the silence that the media is filling with talk of this being a hate crime.
And on the male side, they are linking him to his grandfather:

Yes, agreed. The Mormon Church is sort of nutty and cult-like, but I doubt that the church had anything to do with inspiring the shooter. In fact, just last week the Mormons announced that they were going to support that awful new pro-gay marriage law (misleadingly named “Defense of Marriage Act”).
But you know the press is just looking for something they can use to smear churches and destroy any positive influence they might have on society. As far as the left is concerned, the more depraved and amoral, the better.
What the hell does the Morman Church have to do with the shooting? Just Newsweek doing their normal smear job against religion of any kind except Muslim.
You have hit the true intent of the article. Not only that the LDS church has (AFAIK) been constant in refusing to bless same sex relationships. The church is seen as anti-LGBT which has made them a target of the sodomites and their supporters.

Well it looks like his family probably learned from the last time he went off, so whatever is out there in the media will have little to do with the actual shooter, but enquiring minds want to know, you know? And the big gay free-speech steamroller has to roll on.
