Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would soundly beat former President Donald Trump in hypothetical one-on-one primary matchups in four crucial states, according to a poll released by an influential conservative group Monday, just a day before Trump is expected to announce a bid for the White House in 2024.
The poll, published by the economy-focused Club for Growth, comes after a poor showing for Trump-backed candidates in midterm elections, which saw several of his high-profile endorsees lose and spurred many on the right – including former Trump devotees – to question if the former president should be the future of the party. By contrast, DeSantis, who has been more coy about his plans for 2024 but has taken steps to raise his national profile, won reelection by a decisive margin.
The data and the timing of its release may also constitute a clear message from the powerful Republican group to Trump, signaling who they would back if DeSantis and Trump were vying for the GOP nomination. The Club for Growth supported Trump in the past, though it had a falling out with the former president in the last year. The club still endorsed many candidates who embraced Trump and his brand of conservative politics – including denying Trump’s 2020 election loss – in the recent midterm elections.
Club for Growth President David McIntosh joined other Republicans in urging Trump not to announce a 2024 bid on Tuesday evening, imploring him to wait at least until after the Senate runoff in Georgia in early December, according to Politico, which was the first to report the results of the poll. McIntosh told the news site that voters needed to be “united” and that many saw Trump’s recent insults against other Republicans as “hollow and counterproductive.”

You buy that? Rubio too? Even Rubio was shocked.
This poll is silly at this point because the two aren’t actually running against each other head to head. DeSantis hasn’t really been “vetted” yet by GOP voters nationwide. Trump is a formidable opponent, and we saw what he did to Jeb, Rubio, Cruz etc. If DeSantis gets into a cage match with Trump, RDS will likely not come out unscathed in the eyes of GOP voters. RDS probably knows this, and if he really wants to run in ‘24, he’ll probably sit out as long as possible and hope that DJT’s campaign somehow implodes.
Don’t fall for it. Tell you what, two years from today let’s meet back here and we can scratch our heads and wonder once again, “how’d they do that?”. Crystal ball sez, divide and conquer.
The GOP won’t lose an election because of the so called voter fraud...it will lose due to poor candidates and messaging.
Using the voter fraud argument is not going to get voters to vote for Republicans...solid ideas and messaging is.
Don’t believe their bs polls.
Instead of running, Gov. Ron would do better by traveling to swing states and holding rallies for FLA-type election reform.
Oh boy.......the charlie manson inspired Trumpers aren’t gonna like this. Let it fly freaks. Helter Skelter gonna break loose now!
(Why post this)
Exactly; just makes DU happy.
Can’t wait to vote Trump ☑️
Trump ☑️

1. Secretary of the Treasury
2 Each chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
3. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

It’s a long way between now and the GOP convention in 2024. Polls right now are essentially worthless.
I agree. And even if there is a chance we lose due to fraud, that is no reason not to have the absolutely best candidates, ideas and messaging we possibly can.
The messaging is critical, because you can have the best ideas in the world, but if you can't figure out how to convey them in a way to get independent/swing voters to listen, those ideas do you no good.
It’s the RNC’s fault for not recruiting the most electable candidates two years in advance. Oz in particular: voters don’t like phony carpetbaggers.
How is it cherry picking? PA, GA and AZ were the ripest targets for the Republicans. And Trump endorsed bad candidates in all 3.
Fraud denial will get you endless fraud. Opus?
Fraud denier, I see.
I am open to hard evidence. “We lost a bunch of close races” is not evidence. Especially when we win close races also.
Sorry but there is never going to be a real republican elected president ever again. The elections are totally rigged now. Anyone who thinks otherwise is bat-crap delusional.
You mean the hard evidence and sworn affidavits the courts refuse to look at?
Nations have fallen because of corrupt courts. We are not exempt.
They are going to bring the vote fraud for DeSantis in the primary.
And then use it against him in the general.

The Club for Growth's Super PAC, Club for Growth Action, was particularly critical of Trump's candidacy, announcing a $1 million Iowa advertising buy against his campaign in September 2015. The Club for Growth Action was the first third-party group to spend significant sums against Donald Trump.[164] The Club for Growth announced a $1.5 million advertising buy in Florida in March 2016. The group's advertisements highlighted Trump's support for liberal policies, such as a single-payer health insurance system and tax increases.[165][166][167][168]
In March 2016, Politico reported that the Club for Growth PAC planned to deny congressional endorsements to any candidates who endorsed Donald Trump's presidential bid before the nomination was actually clinched.
