A. David DePape was a crazed lunatic stranger bent on violence and chaos. As smart as he is, Paul Pelosi simply didn’t notice that.
B. David DePape was “special guest” of Paul’s. The sight of the police upset DePape, more than Paul expected.
I think I’ll go with ‘B’ here.

Or thirdly, Pelosi is simply an 82 year old man awakened at 2:30 am, confused and unable to think as cearly as we all would assume that he should be able to. Not making an excuse here, rather pointing out another real possibility. Also more compelling, why were police notified via a Pelosi 911 call? Would not a security system make that call automatically and result in a very rapid response by the SF police?
Im sure that once the police arrived Pelosi decided his “friend” could no longer have the appearance of being his friend...so Pelosi froze him out and the nutbag went crazy.
