Why ?
If an intruder breaks and enters at 2:30am wouldn’t you lock the bathroom door until police arrive and apprehend the suspect ?
Let’s say the bathroom had no other exit.
A senile drunken ole sot might worry about being trapped in a small space whereas outside the bathroom he would have more means of escape.
In the bathroom you are stuck with The Shining Here’s Johnny putting an axe through the door and you have nowhere to escape.
