The Importance of Doug Mastriano
The American Spectator ^ | September 26, 2022 | Jeffrey Lord

Posted on 09/27/2022 4:58:41 PM PDT by T Ruth

Pennsylvania’s Republican nominee for governor — ... state Sen. Doug Mastriano — is under attack by the establishment elite .... And ... the Republican Governors Association has signed on for the attack.

… Mastriano is a 30-year active-duty combat veteran who retired as a colonel in the Army. Apart from being deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Storm (1991), assigned to the U.S. forces liberating Kuwait, in the post–9/11 world he was assigned to NATO and had three tours in Afghanistan. He ended his military career as a professor at the U.S. Army War College .... He has four master’s degrees and holds a doctorate in history.

In 2019, retired from the military, he ran for the Pennsylvania state Senate ... winning in a landslide. In the spring of 2022, Mastriano ran in a nine-candidate race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, defeating the other eight candidates in a landslide with 43 percent of the vote.

And now? Now Mastriano is being accused of being — you guessed it — an “extremist.” The charge comes from his Democratic opponent, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro. And, but of course, the usual establishment elites in the GOP and elsewhere on the right are taking aim at Mastriano for — oh, the horror — standing up for election integrity in a state notorious for voter fraud.

….

***

No less than the Republican Governors Association is failing to do the basics of its supposed job — supporting GOP nominees for governor. ...

***

Can he win? Yes. Can he lose? Yes.

But in either case, the real long-term question is whether the establishment elites, who run, in this case, everything from the Republican Governors Association and the left-wing media to woke corporations, should continue to get support from grassroots Republicans ….

The fact of the matter is that Mastriano, like Reagan and Trump before him, is carrying the flag for freedom, getting government off the backs of Pennsylvania taxpayers, and standing up to fight the seriously alarming rise in crime, which was illustrated again just this week with that rampaging — and unarrested — mob in that Philadelphia Wawa.

No wonder the establishment elites and the Republican Governors Association can’t stand him.

But it is clear that there are Pennsylvanians aplenty around here who think a Gov. Mastriano is exactly — exactly — what Pennsylvania needs.

Says it all!

Praying that the election in Italy has the same effect here! May the Lord God raise every God, Family & Country candidate to victory in November and may it spread to the 2024 cycle!

We need to be on our knees, wearing a place in the carpet and stains on the chairs from our tears of repentance and pleas for God’s mercy!

The fact is that Mastriano has run a horrible campaign. He appears to be only interesting in posting meandering Facebook videos instead of doing public events. He has security go after people who ask him questions.

He won’t talk to anyone in the media, presumably because he isn’t quick enough to come back hard when they attack him. Candidates that can stand up for themselves get viral moments.

Mastriano just wants to sit on Facebook. He doesn’t even seem to advertise on conservative email lists. The guy has probably the worst advisers ever. He pretends to be running like Trump in 2016 but that’s totally false. Trump would talk to anyone who would have him. He wasn’t afraid.

I thought Oz was going to flake out but he’s putting in far more work and effort than Mastriano. Barnett could easily have done better than what Mastriano has come up with.

It’s a Senate seat so it affects all of us. I’d rather them sit out their governor’s race!

I used to think that. But some good red state governors plus the 10th Amendment are what may save us all.

True that! I hope they both win. Was just throwing out a hypothetical.

You seem to have a lot of insight into Mastriano’s shortcomings ... you would probably be a great asset if you volunteered to work on his campaign. Everyone and every little bit helps.

They didn’t get their beloved Barnette (who was a s**t candidate) so they’re going to help Fetterman win!>>> she was a good candidate as is evidenced by her almost beating out the two RINO’s aand Sean Hannity lies. I think Oz is a nut case but he might take out Quasimodo. and maybe Mastriano gets some coattails?

Mastriano is traveling Non-Stop all over the state making speeches every day of the week. I follow his schedule.

Depends on how you look at it. The media was practically begging the primary voters to pick her because she would have been gold for the Dems. With all that she got 24% in a primary. Oz is a heart surgeon not a nutcase at all. I do agree that Mastriano will need to ride Oz’s coattails to victory!

I think the poster just consumes fake news like the NYT and swallows it. Amazes me sometimes that people just parrot what these lefty flunkies write and then write some of the same old negative stuff

Barnette in my estimation was out of her league.
I believe she’s a fine person, with great positions but they woulda eaten her alive. Sorry, An unknown jumping into a statewide Senatorial campaign is not the place to start your political career.
Oz, wasn’t my choice but he’s what we got.
Holding your nose to spite your face is childish and detrimental to out Country!
This is not a time to be butt hurt cause your guy/gal didn’t win their primary!

I’d post that in every thread about Oz. There are too many PA’ers on here bitching about that very thing and it pisses me off!!!

Most times I see articles mentioning apathetic voters who if they voted would change an election. I guess I’m referring to them.
Can’t argue most voting conservatives will go Mastriano, it’s the lazy/busy/put out voters who rather sit at home than be bothered, I guess I’m thinking about.
If these type folks actually had a kick in the rear to go to their polling place, they could help carry the day.

His campaign has been awful.
After the primary he just DISAPPEARED!!
And let himself be defined by the dirtbag demoRATs. He had to know that was coming! Yet, very little campaign presence on major media.
If $$& is the issue, why the hell run for the position if fundraising or getting support would be a problem.
Hope Mastriano pulls it out but if he loses, he lost this race in June, July, and August by very damaging commercials against him with virtually NO pushback!

Lot’s of MAGA folks are new to politics and ignorant how the system actually works. They think that a grassroots, local race type of campaign is enough and that the voters will just see things their way. By the time the MAGA crowd smartens up and is ready to become a force, something else will have taken it’s place I’m afraid!

We’re about to go into a war, where expressing opposition will get you thrown in jail, like the J6 folks.
