A federal judge in Florida has granted Donald Trump's request to have a special master review the documents seized during the raid on Mar-a-Lago – granting a key demand of the former president and tapping the breaks on the government's investigation.
Judge Aileen Cannon approved Trump's motion to appoint a special master 'to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney client and/or executive privilege.'
The Trump-appointed judge also 'temporarily enjoins' the government from 'reviewing and using the seized materials' pending the completion of the review.
That grants Trump and his legal team a side benefit of stalling the fast-moving proceedings that have unfolded since the August 8 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago.

Great news on this Labor Day. 🙂 👍
Wouldn’t the Special Master have to see the original document citing the reason for the raid otherwise they would not know if documents and articles gathered were valid.
Let me guess, Judge Amy Vermin Jackson?
didn’t John Roberts say something about, how there are no Trump judges, or Obama judges, or Biden judges, that judges are special, and apply the law impartially, or something along those lines????
“Heard it could take months.”
I heard YEARS! After the 2024 election at least...
I agree. I’m a federal employee and have worked with a Special Master before. Quite leftist in his approach from what I could tell.
I post this just so folks can remember what absolute hypocrisy comes from the CommirCrats.
Bill Barr on a frantic search for his next full bottle of Pepto Bismal.
John Roberts also said a fine was a tax.
DOJ blocked from using items seized at Mar-A-Lago…
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.U.S. Constitution, Amendment IV.
The 4th Amendment requires a showing of probable cause of a crime AT THE TIME of the search/seizure. Third-world dictatorships show all kinds of evidence after the fact.
But that is not how our Free Constitutional Republic works. The Constitution is essentially and anti-government and strict government-limiting document forcing the government to plainly show what they are up to BEFORE they attempt an search or seizure.
Great News!
Good to remember.. as they are wrong /subject to much wishful thinking a lot.
This throws a big monkey wrench into fedgov’s plan. How long will it take to find a special master with appropriate security clearance to review this stuff?
On the day of the raid, job one for the FBI was to evict Trump's lawyers and any security people, and turn off the cameras.
Why? So there would be NO WITNESSES and no accountability for anything they did while inside. Since no one was there to document what they took, anything could have been added or altered, both at the site and anytime afterward. ANY evidence gathered is suspect and inadmissible, and a special master doesn't change that.
(AP) - The appointment is likely to slow the pace of the department’s investigation into the presence of top-secret information at Mar-a-Lago given the judge’s directive that the Justice Department may not for the moment use any of the seized materials for investigative purposes. But it is not clear that it will have any significant effect on any investigative decisions or the ultimate outcome of the probe.
The judge’s footnote will leave a mark across the asses of both Garland and Wray.
Shows how biased they are...
WOW! Some good news for the day.
I skimmed through it and it does not appear it is very sympathetic to the government in this case. Some of the footnotes in fact were scathing.
