Trump: Power to Classify, Declassify 'Lies Solely With the President'

A new statement from Donald Trump's team amid the raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence stresses that the president had "the power to classify and declassify documents."

Just the News founder John Solomon read the declaration Friday night while appearing on Fox News' "Hannity."

"As we can all relate to, everyone ends up having to bring home their work from time to time. American presidents are no different," Solomon read. "President Trump, in order to prepare work for the next day, often took documents including classified documents to the residence.

"He had a standing order that documents removed from the Oval Office and taken to the residence were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them," the statement continued. "The power to classify and declassify documents rests solely with the president of the United States."

Trump's statement also challenged the idea that "some paper-pushing bureaucrat" needed to approve the former president's document declassification, calling the proposal "absurd."

The new comments by Trump come amid his claims that former President Barack Obama kept over 30 million pages of documents, "much of them classified," Trump wrote in a short statement through the Save America PAC earlier on Friday.

The trouble is...they don’t want Trump to be re-elected. They’re perfectly happy in the minority. They make the same money & pry do less work because they don’t have to come up with ideas and then craft legislation. (Of course, we all know that the staff writes the legislation.)

It goes deeper than that. Many politicians are in the job for the easy money and benefits. They will obey the desires of the donors who pay for their re-election. These donors have their own agendas.

Many globalist donors support Republicans, IF the Republican is in a district which will not elect a Democrat. So the donors pick somebody to run as Republican, who will obey globalist orders when told to do so.

Never assume that RINOs are stupid. Much of the time they are deliberately trying to make the conservative side lose, under orders.

I think the intent was...get Trump into a corner (charged-up) then offer a conviction where he admits one thing, and he gets pardoned by Biden (with the promise not to compete in 2024). I seriously believe this was the gameplan cranked for this whole operation.

If it fails? The FBI is gone and probably half of the DoJ. That was the accepted ‘fall-guy’. Maybe they don’t realize yet, but they will be sacrificed to prevent Trump from a return.

One thing that stands out...they have no one with the statue or prominence to compete against Trump. Interesting prospective to view this far out from the election.

Reclassification is the key. Can a president reclassify that to which has been declassified?

And then prosecute for it?

And he’s absolutely right. That’s exactly how it works… the Commander-in-Chief is the topline OCA.

Yes, the power to classify, or declassify, is in the hands of the president. Voters have the ability to vote the president out if they don’t like their decisions and congress/senate can remove president with super majority in senate after impeachment. Those are the only checks on declassification/classified.

discovered this secret program

What you identify is interesting, but would never survive the light of day if anyone tries to enforce it, especially now. How do we know this? Because earlier attempts to do this have been furtive. They know it's absurd to attempt to illegalize history.

The intended parallel the spooks you cite have been trying to invoke is the one that says, if the password to your bank account or the combination to your locker has been breached, you change it, to keep it safe. That pertains to information that is by its nature private and in current use.

But a truth of the past that has been revealed can't be unrevealed. Is anyone with whom it has been legally disclosed now suddenly obligated to work for the State? No civilian court could support that, because it would open the way to banning someone from repeating any known fact at any moment between now and the end of the world. There would be no separating this restriction from political speech or religious speech.

If this idea of has on-again, off-again classification been practiced in secret among spooks alone, that's one thing. But the Presidency is intentionally a public, civilian office elected by civilians. He has access to the military because he represents their boss--the people. The whole point is the people have a military, and not the other way around.

If someone has to go to the trouble of bringing this idea of "re-classifying" historical fact from a previous administration to the Supreme Court, it will not survive a half-hour's discussion. Remember the Pentagon Papers? It's the Left's favorite case--not that they'll want to be reminded about it now.

Fast and furious come to mind.

All DOJ relating docs associated with it classified by Obama.

First order of business upon PDJT’s second term, declassify these docs, ROF of 100000 IRS goons, shutter the FBI 7th floor and ROF all NGOs. Especially the last 5000 that were hired to monitor web for people using MVE sayings and symbols.

The catch that will need to be explained would be the bit about adding the lock. If declassified, no reason to lock it up.

Sensitive and classified are two different things. You still keep sensitive stuff locked up.

That policy doesn’t seem to make sense. If he took home the list of all undercover CIA agents working in China that document is automatically declassified and could legally be broadcast by CNN?

Yeah, like Trump would have given any docs to cnn.

What you can't wrap your mind around is the President has the singular power to declassify anything he wants to just by saying so.

No magic wand, no OK from congress or SCOTUS, no reviews by the National Security Advisor and no written order on a piece by piece basis.

The act of removing the docs from the White House automatically declassified them.

Full Stop.

Probably why RNC and elected officials get more donations.

When minority, they can act like drama queens firing up the base and fill the coffers from idiots that still support these thieves

If they determined that they needed an extra lock, why didn't they just ask him for those documents back in June when he was fully cooperating? Not that he wasn't cooperative at anytime after the June session, but they were there then and had full access back in June. Why did they wait 2 months afterwards, and what compelled them to all of a sudden make the determination that they had to conduct a rad to retrieve them?

The answer is that this was a political show, period, and that there was no national security threat whatsoever.

So, your question/statement is ridiculous on its face. You are playing right into their hands and apparently oblivious to that reality point. There is no need to even question the lock BS.

The power to classify belongs to many.

I remember Comey himself classified the memos he typed up in the limo right after he spoke with President Trump...specifically naming Flynn saying the President wanted Comey to leave Flynn alone. Comey said he took it as an order.

Comey was setting up the President.

Basically, this will be a court battle.

Trump claims he declassified anything that left the White House and came to Mar-A-Lago.

The swamp will claim Trump’s declassification was too broad, therefore, invalid.

The courts will decide.

“Yes. The court cases would back that up. The power to declassify something rests with the POTUS. He’s the commander in chief. If Trump declassified something, then its declassified.”

I understand people being hyperdefensive re Trump but TRY to understand what I’m saying. I’m saying that that I think it’s not a good idea to have a blanket policy that all documents are automatically declassified when taken to Trump’s other residences. I also question whether Trump would make such a policy. It doesn’t make sense for all documents to be treated the same as some are more sensitive than others.
I’m NOT saying he didn’t have the right to classify or declassify anything he wanted. I’m NOT saying he did anything wrong or unusual in bringing any type of documents to his home.

Almost like that is why up until now former presidents were not investigated.

Totally, and unapologetically, fascist and as long as the people remain under (social) media hypnosis there will not be any change.

Alex Berenson was removed from twitter per the request of the Biden regime. Project Veritas is harassed by federal agents.

Tell me again how the social media platforms are private companies. They are managed by the US federal government. And it is a “conspiracy” to say so because that is the easiest way to dismiss a person’s concerns without investigation.

And it is rigged now where if you spread “mal-information” you are a terrorist and can be disappeared. Call you terrorist and you have no right to trial, no right to any constitutional right you think you have as a US citizen that will protect you from the government.

The feds have all the tools at their disposal they need to be literal secret police. It started with the charmingly named *PATRIOT* act and they have grown it to the falsified FISA warrants and a thuggish search of a former US president.

Like the stuff on wiki leaks has been made available and is now not classified? Because someone published it?
Like the information from Edward Snowden is no longer classified?
