Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday announced a program to help U.S. veterans to become teachers in the Sunshine State, explaining that it is fitting to have those “who took an oath and put his or her life on the line to preserve, protect, and defend our flag and the freedom it represents” to teach the next generation.
“We begin the new school year. Florida’s leading the way by bringing some of the best, the brightest, and the bravest among us into our classrooms through a new program that helps military veterans become teachers,” DeSantis announced.
“If you served in the military for at least four years, were honorably discharged, have taken 60 college credits and pass a subject area exam, we want you to be able to teach Florida students,” the conservative governor said, explaining that veterans have a “wealth of knowledge and experience” they can bring to the classroom.

Nearly every day DeSantis announces something and it’s always a good idea. The other governors should simply mimic him and the United States would be ship shape in no time.

Had a number of veterans who taught at my high school in the 50’s.
NONE of them took any back talk from a student.
We didn’t have many who would do such in the first place, but one large football hero back talked a guy about 5’8” & within seconds-—the student was half way OUT THE 2nd STORY window.
That student behaved after that-—for the rest of the 2 years until graduation.
Just no vets over O-3, O-4 at the most. Most of those are hard left.
Excellent plan. I have long believed that we need more MEN teaching at the grade school level. A man with a military background who can impose discipline and structure on young kids has to be a better choice than these pink-haired weirdos on Tik Tok.
Wussy Principals beware! They, the Principals, will be the biggest problem. The left will brand the new teachers as baby killers etc.. It will be labeled as the militarism of the education system. The Union heads will explode. Go Desantis, Go FLA!

Funny thing is, they talked openly about this and were even proud of how they gamed the system. Oh, and most of them were Phys Ed. teachers.
Are you kidding? These grads will see teaching as beneath them, and the pay is below what they'd be willing to accept.

Former Drill Sgts. and Tac officers would be ideal. Then again you have those Liberal board members, Union types and not Conservative type Principals to contend with. Bring in ex GI’s and there will be friction for sure. You will be bucking the over whelming whining leftists that seem to be jam-packed into the system. But, yes, Do It!

ALL of my teachers in junior and senior high school were veterans. Some were Ww2 vintage, some were WW1 vintage, some were Korean War vintage. The head of the high school history department, and who taught economics, was an interrogator at Nuremburg, for the trials held there.
They knew their stuff. They knew who they were, and knew what they would not allow in their classes, too.
Now, with the possible threats to the schools, they just might not run and hide, either.

This whole illegals on busses idea started with Ron, last November.
