Donald Trump could be banned from public office if he's found guilty of mishandling classified White House documents, legal experts have warned
Federal law prohibits someone convicted of mishandling documents from holding any office in the United States
Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., was raided by the FBI Monday
The investigation is said to be focused on material that Trump brought to the property after he left the White House in 2021
In January 2022, the National Archives removed 15 boxes from Mar-a-Lago, some containing classified data, that they said Trump should not have taken with him
Agents were looking to see if Trump had even more records in his home
If found guilty, Trump could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison

Former President Donald Trump could be banned from holding public office if he is found guilty of mishandling White House records.
Federal law prohibits someone convicted of mishandling documents from holding any office in the United States, legal experts have warned could be a 'huge' development for Trump's hopes to run for president in 2024.
'If Trump is convicted under this federal statute, he would be prohibited from holding any office including the office of the president,' former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told DailyMail.com. 'That would be huge.'
Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., was raided by the FBI Monday, reportedly as part of an investigation into whether he took classified documents with him when he left presidential office.
Trump, in his dramatic announcement of the raid, didn't specifically say what the federal agents were looking for, just that his home was 'under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.'

If that’s the case how come Hillary Clinton who destroyed documents is able to run
So, is Hillary banned from running for Public office now?
Old Merrick is still sore that he did get a shot at the Supreme Court.
Is it possible for the President of the United States to mishandle his own documents? If he says something is not Classified - it isn’t. He is the ultimate arbiter of what is Classified and what isn’t. He doesn’t need anyone’s permission or clearance. He IS the clearance. He could pay politically but criminally?
total BS fake news. A law cant change the constitution.
RE: There were no classified documents found, from what I heard.
Where did you hear it from?
Honestly I think a court will have something to say about this law as this is not in the Constitution I don’t think they can stop anybody from running for president if it is not explicitly in the requirements for running for office of the president of the United States
I honestly don’t remember now. I have read so many articles on this topic, while also flipping back and forth between here and Truth Social. I tried looking for it, but to no avail. Sorry.
See post #29.
Even if they did find classified documents, it shouldn't matter.
The president is the Classifier in Chief.
But wont be.... wont even be questioned.
They have no fear because the GOP projects no anger...at least in terms for advocating for the greatest president theyve ever seen.
The issue is never the issue.
There is , in my opinion, something else going on.
Trump has some info that the Democrats don’t want the public to see
Hillary mishandled 33,000 ‘documents’ & still ran for office.
Pray for President Trump.
If they try to disqualify him on such a penny ante charge, especially after excusing Clinton and Comey’s mishandling of government documents and official notes, they will illustrate to every open minded person just how unscrupulous and hypocritical they are.
“experts”
I heard they found no documents, but did find an eight ball of coke and a dead hooker
Like they actually give a damn...................
