VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — The latest tally in the race for the second and final spot in the Washington 3rd Congressional District race shows GOP challenger Joe Kent taking the lead from incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler.
Whoever ekes out a primary victory will face Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who took the most votes and the top spot in the primary last Tuesday.
County election officials released the latest vote tally around 5 p.m. Kent, who trailed by 257 votes, now has an 813 vote lead over Herrera Beutler...

There isn’t a “Republican nomination” there. It’s a jungle primary with the top two vote getters advancing, regardless of party affiliation.
Good news bump...there will be an automatic recount because how close the totals are, but it looks like Kent will win.

I live in WA 3. I have never heard of the vote on the last day strategy. Where did you hear of it?
I think it’s a good idea! I know that my county got way more ballots on the last day than they were expecting, so obviously a lot of people knew about it.
