I despise Roger Waters. I don’t care if he happen to be or not be right on any given occasion.
I used to love music by Pink Floyd. I listened to their work all the time.
Back in 2004, I went to a Roger Waters concert. I was in a large group of 10-15 people, all good friends.
In retrospect, I should have seen what was coming, but...I didn’t.
It turned into a 3 hour political audiovisual tirade against Bush, neocons, conservatives and Israel, with some music mixed in. It looked like Code Pink put together the slide and video shows they had going on.
I didn’t want to ruin the evening for the people I went with, but I was steaming mad. I grit my teeth and sat there. At the end of the “concert”, they released a 40 foot high ballon of a pig with “F*ck Bush” on one side and “Vote Democrat” on the other.
Now, it doesn’t make any difference to me what the actual sentiment is with respect to Bush, Russia, or anything else is. When I go to a concert, I expect music, not indoctrination.
I have been unable to listen to any Pink Floyd music since then. It STILL pisses me off. I try, but just don’t enjoy it the same way.
Waters is a washed-up old Lefturd.

There was a time that interviewers would do their homework ahead of time and be prepared for the topics being discussed.
Nowadays they only memorize the DNC talking points and just crumble under the slightest deviation from the party line.

Trying to find the best way to deal with that anger. I, like many patriotic Americans these days, find an excess of anger with what I see.
It’s a shame that some musicians have to be so obnoxious with their political views. People go to music not to be beat over the head with someone’s hard edge views. And Waters is the worst. I’ve known some of PF’s music over the years, but I have gotten into them a bit more the last few years. I like Gilmour a bit better. I’m sure he’s on the left, but he’s not nasty like Waters. I wouldn’t even want to go to a show with someone bashing Biden. It would feel ick to me even though I would agree with the sentiments.
Ukraine & Russia represent two factions of the left, and the Ukraine war is a proxy war between these factions.
I hope the two factions annihilate one another.

Russia and Germany were going to carve up Europe. We saved the UK from the Nazi’s, not Russia.
If we had not joined the war and gone into Africa in 1942, the UK would have fallen by ‘44 and Nazi’s would have had the the bomb by ‘46 and would have had missiles to deliver the bomb to Moscow by ‘47. Commies in the US never would have had the chance to give Russians the bomb before they were Nuked.
The Russians Saved Berlin from getting Nuked by us, but other than that, they didn’t save anybody in Europe from anything. We saved them from getting Nuked by the Nazis.
It seems most of the responses here are from folks who support Ukraine. IMO Ukraine is responsible solely for being invaded. Russia is a great power and views Ukraine in NATO as an existential threat. It matters not what any other country believes. Might makes right. When the USA went to war with Spain over some flimsy excuse, might made right. And when the 5th leader of some relatively weak country (called the United States of America) told the rest of the world powers to stay out of the Western Hemisphere, exactly where did President Monroe derive his authority to do so?
As far as Ukraine they have been waging their own private small scale war of oppression against ethnic Russians in the eastern part of Ukraine for some years. And secondly, saying you want to join NATO is a non-starter for Russia. You can ignore this fact all you want. You can argue Russia doesn’t have the right to do this. But nobody can say Ukraine didn’t know what Russia told them they could or could not do in regards to joining NATO.
Ukraine was a country of 44 million people. 12 million have been displaced and 5 million of those are living outside Ukraine. The president of Ukraine says he wants all of the lost territory restored. This includes not only donbass and luhansk, but crimea as well. Fat chance as far as I see it. Russia has all of the Donbass, and a good portion of Luhansk. And why on earth would they give back Crimea unless forced to? And who’s going to force them? Russia will absorb a good portion of eastern Ukraine when this war is over. And imo that’s the best case scenario for Ukraine.
And if that best case arises, what will be the cost. How many millions of Ukrainians will now become Russian citizens, how many Ukrainians living abroad will decide not to return? Donbass and Luhansk will likely give Russia 3 million citizens. And how many more Ukrainians will be trapped as Russia continues to advance this year? I can see a scenario where Ukraine loses 8-10 million of it’s population in a best case scenario. From losing it’s citizens to Russia directly or to those citizens who do not wish to return home.
If you are in the west and hate russia perhaps you can smile and say good. At least we killed tens of thousands of Russians and made them pay a heavy cost in lost equipment and showed the power of western weapons. But for Ukraine, this is a disaster. Only a fool would have pushed the bear to do this. And that fool is Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Not sure I see eye to eye with Roger Waters, but unlike the interviewer, he at least seemed to be using his brain.
Dittos...I also couldn't help noticing the physical contrast as well. Waters is at least 20 years older, but looks so much healthier than the slack jawed, balding, chubby putz smirking at him.

Dude is spot on about NATO causing the ear in the Ukraine by moving arms right next to Russia. . What whould the United States do if China pushed nuclear arms into Mexico?

Who red pilled this guy? I doubt CNN will allow a loose truth cannon like that back on.
I went to a few Clash concerts in the 1980s and probably should have expected the same since they were as left wing as any group could be but they pretty much played their music and said a few things which could easily be ignored. I suspect they knew their audience of North American punk rock fans would only take so much before they would start rebelling against too much yakking.
