Biden falsely says abortion ruling makes US 'outlier among developed nations'
Fox News ^ | June 24, 2022 | Thomas Catenacci

President Biden remarked Friday that the Supreme Court's decision overturning Roe v. Wade made the U.S. an "outlier" in the West.

However, European nations largely have abortion laws that resemble regulations supported by many Republican-led state governments

"Upholding laws restricting abortion on demand after 20 weeks would situate the United States closer to the international mainstream, instead of leaving it as an outlying country with ultra-permissive abortion policies," the Charlotte Lozier Institute, a pro-life group, stated in 2014.

The report noted that the list of nations where abortion is legal past 20 weeks included North Korea, China and Vietnam.

We have Federal law, State law, and local law. Federal law is the hardest to change, so in theory it is the more stable of the three and it is more useful than the other two on questions of human rights. States rights and local rights are better for governing economic issues that take into account conditions on the ground that differ from state to state.

We don’t have clarity, we have a hot mess that is changing from moment to moment as people line up and take sides.

I am an American, and my ancestors have been here since well before there was a United States of America. We have three levels of government to take advantage of the strengths while avoiding the weaknesses of all three.

“Biden falsely says abortion ruling makes US ‘outlier among developed nations’”

Biden Lied.

Again.

One of the most scurrilous aspects about the mainstream media’s reporting on this case: Yesterday they were all reporting that it was a 6-3 decision. Today they are reporting that it was a 5-4 decision. It seems that duplicitous John Roberts’ opinion said that he wanted a narrow decision which outlawed abortion in the case, but did not overturn Roe v Wade.

Well guess what, two-faced Roberts and MSM, that option was not on the ballot. The first words in the majority opinion read somet5hing like, Roe v Wade is overturned in its entirety. Roberts voted with that majority.

It’s becoming even more clear who leaked the draft opinion.

sunny Miami vs Anchorage Alaska for building codes for example

Highly Christian, pro-life Missouri vs mostly godless WA/OR

Building codes vs highly held religious/spiritual beliefs. Apples to oranges. There are no building codes where I live in Missouri btw. I built my own place how I wanted.

Life at conception, a religious belief that at the moment of conception, God has created a new life and therefor that life is precious.

Life at 12 weeks, 20 weeks? Based on a combo of science/opinion, both of which are known to evolve over time. Abortion up to viable stage? Has also changed over time, currently 21-22 weeks. Life at heart beat detection? Opinion based on sense of sound. It must be real, I can hear it.

Immaculate conception. Jesus. At what point did Jesus become? Upon conception? 12 weeks? 20 weeks? Once heart beat could be heard?

When is a soul created? Some people don't believe in souls. You're wanting universal clarity on deep religious/spiritual concepts that man has pondered forever.

Actually, we were an outlier before this ruling. Most developed countries cut off abortion on demand somewhere around five months of gestation.

You can look it up. It was the radical democrats who wanted zero restrictions whatsoever up until the moment of birth and even beyond.

“France is more restrictive than Mississippi.”

Yes, but most Americans consider France to be a decadent, failed European dumping ground. That’s the older Americans. The younger ones, 30 and younger, don’t even know what a France is, much less where.

Yep, just think of the term, Head of State. A president, King/Queen. I forgot to mention governor. Basically the Head of State.

What unites the states? A fedgov with what was supposed to be very limited purposes. A military, trade, general welfare of the people. That general welfare of the people has been blown out of proportion though to become more like general regulation of the people.

The people have allowed it because they don’t want to have to think deeply and make their own decisions even on tangible things.

Now we get to abortion. When does life become life? “The science” changes as we should all be well aware of from the past two years.

That leaves religious/spiritual beliefs. That means deciding if you have them and to what degree and deciding what you believe on the deepest of subjects. Life itself. Not a simple thing so it’s not surprising that people want someone to tell them what they believe.

Give me clarity. Sounds like something one might pray for.

Congress had 49 years to fix this. They didn’t do it. The Democrats are just as culpable as the Republicans here, and any campaign pronouncements about their good intentions should be viewed through that prism.

Btw, you are ranting

Just trying to get you to see that this is not a black and white subject like building codes. Even those aren’t settled. Hurricane Andrew changed things nation wide for building materials.

There is a solution. Most people would be fine with abortion in the first trimester and after that only to preserve life and prevent the mom from becoming a debilitated ward of the state.

Building codes were given as an example of a local level thing, not a Federal level thing.

It may settle out that way. Some of the laws now back in effect are very old. Tucker mentioned one that’s from 1873. Can’t remember which state.

Not trying to flame you but, that sounds like an almost final solution...for some of the unborn. I know it sounds like a compromise, but really that’s still murder. JMHO.

This isn’t an ideological or theological solution, this is a set of circumstances requiring a pragmatic approach where neither party lives in a vacuum. Sorry, but no-ones rights are absolute when they impinge on someone elses rights.
