I have always imagined the slave masters calling after the newly freed slaves as they walked off the plantation, “The Republicans want you to be homeless and unemployed.”

And the Commucrats are still telling blacks the same thing today.

What June 19, 1865 really was was the day Union troops took over Texas!

I guess the blacks and the democrats are really lucky that those Union REPUBLICAN soldiers didn’t wait until June 20th or the 23rd to tell all the people there that they were free.

It would have been really awkward to try to put a date like that into “EBONICS” or baby talk!
