REVIEW: ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Is An Incredible Pro-America Film
Daily Caller ^ | 6/5/2022 | David Hookstead

“Top Gun: Maverick” is an absolutely outstanding movie.

After not having time to catch the highly-anticipated sequel when it was initially released, I finally made my way to the theater Sunday afternoon to watch Tom Cruise return as the iconic fighter jet pilot Maverick.

Ladies and gentlemen, the film can only be described as pure patriotism.

The plot is very simple. Maverick has been tasked with training some pilots to take out an unauthorized nuclear reactor in an unnamed country.

While the country is never named, it’s clear that it’s Iran for multiple reasons, including weapon capabilities, old aircraft and terrain.

Maverick quickly realizes the young pilots, including Goose’s son Rooster, have a long way to go before attempting to pull off a borderline suicidal mission.

Without giving anything away, I will say that “Top Gun: Maverick” is one of the most badass and most pro-America films that I’ve ever seen. Most of what Hollywood pumps out is pure garbage.

“Top Gun: Maverick” makes you damn proud to be an American. When the credits rolled, I damn near had a tear in my eye and I was ready to start singing the national anthem.

That’s how you know you’ve made a hit movie!

Now more than ever, we need great content that celebrates what’s awesome about this country, and giving millions of fans an incredible film about awesome fighter jet pilots is exactly what the doctor ordered.

If you haven’t already seen “Top Gun: Maverick,” you need to do it immediately!

If/when I can see if for free I will. But I cannot in good conscience spend money on it knowing that a good portion of it will go to supporting the cult of Scientology.

A little far fetched in some aspects, but yes, a fun feel good movie, and good follow up to the original.

I had no idea Tom was an accomplished pilot.I guess he’s the real deal. He was right when he called Oprah glib.

I really enjoyed the heck out of it too on IMAX. I guess I’m one of the few who really thought the first Top Gun was a bit overrated. But I loved this one especially given the climate in Hollywood and in our country in general. Not even a hint of wokeness. Sure, the team of fighters assembled for the mission was diverse enough but identity politics didn’t go anywhere beyond that. As the reviewer wrote, it was just great action that showed America and the American military positively.

Two big thumbs up from me.

Of course it’s far fetched, it’s a movie! Fun entertainment! About freaking time.

I didn’t care for it. Not much “patriotic” about it, honestly. Was distracted by the forced diversity, odd and unfeasible romantic interest, and ridiculous and repetitive plot that will immediately make you think of Star Wars IV. Also, I was never moved much by the music video original, which was certainly entertaining but not deep, so the “tearjerker scene” with Iceman didn’t move me at all. The best part of the film was the aerial choreography, which was top notch.

It really is great throwback to the pretty much dead 80’s genre of action flicks where men were masculine, women were sexy and it was just about mindless and fun action with no “SJW message”. Makes you wonder how it got made in Hollywood.

First movie where Tom Cruise shows just a little bit of humility (and age).

The movie was pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but I would give it a 7, if it’s lucky.

I felt like the personality dynamics were weak, even though you can tell they wanted more from them. Particularly between Maverick and Rooster (Goose’s son). The sudden change toward cooperation under great need and the whole emotional reckoning thing was predictable and yet not genuinely dramatic.
Then there was Penny Benjamin. I have probably seen the original a dozen times if you piece them together (almost never sat through the whole thing) and I kept asking myself who she was and why she was so important.
Val Kilmer’s character was supposed to appear ill and frail, but I never would have expect his performance to be. For example, in Tombstone his character had Tuberculosis, and his character pretty much stole the show.

It was somewhat patriotic. It was a more or less typical action plot arc. Its a good movie to see as long as you don’t expect too much

We could say that about the hundreds of Hollywood folk in other cults, some of which are well represented on FR. One man’s denomination is another man’s cult.

I never cared much for the first one, but absolutely LOVED this one. Just fantastic on so many levels. So much more depth than the first. It was so respectful about everything it did, from posthumously adding Don Simpson back as producer to how it presented Iceman, to how it delved more deeply into Maverick’s character motivations without being preachy or trite.

Just fantastic all around. I wasn’t even a big fan of the first one, but when Tom Cruise said at the beginning that he made it for US, by the end of the movie, I fully understood what he meant. I totally got why it was so important to them to release it properly after all the plannedemic bullcrap. was done.

And the practical effects showed up the MCU CGI junk for the boring garbage that it is.

I didn’t like it either…

Cruise breaks character with an intro thanking the audience…should be done at the end.

Quick cut shots and stupid music.
Lousy romance plot.
Star Wars for sure.

It could have been more cerebral with a better plot…like taking out the NORKS.

The carrier shots and in flight scenes were the best part.

100%! The fight scenes using real planes were awesome. I was on the edge of my seat watching the action. I’ve grown so tired of the CGI crap too.
