Border Patrol Agents Killed the Uvalde School Shooter. But Why Were They on the Scene?
Texas Monthly ^ | 05/26/2022 | Jack Herrera

When Border Patrol radios crackled with a request for aid from local Uvalde police on Tuesday, it was nothing out of the ordinary. Agents often act as first responders to emergencies in their communities. The alert on Tuesday, however, was horrific: a gunman had entered Robb Elementary School.

Customs and Border Protection agents were among the first to respond to the mass shooting, in which at least nineteen children and two teachers were killed. That response speaks to the outsized role CBP has in small towns near the border, like Uvalde.

A CBP official told Texas Monthly that as emergency calls first came in, four agents with CBP’s Bortac SWAT team were investigating stash houses on the border to the west of Uvalde. The agents immediately responded, arriving at the school just before noon. Bortac (Border Patrol Tactical Unit) is CBP’s’s paramilitary force, an elite group of agents trained to exchange gunfire with cartels. Border Patrol agents not in the SWAT unit also rushed to the school, for more personal reasons: their own children were in the building.

But Why Were They on the Scene?

Yeah, lets have a big investigation. Maybe we can hang the hero who ended it out to dry.

Reading the LW blog sites, they already see Ramos as a victim of GOP gun policies in Texas. It’s just a matter of time that Ramos becomes a hero

Great indication of how Texas monthly wants Texans to be killed by insecure border and to ostracize all forms of law enforcement.

Especially border patrol agents who “whip people”

I read a couple of accounts that said it was an off duty BP agent, not a team. That was a few hours ago and maybe it’s been updated?

Border patrol officers can operate with 100 miles of a border.

On a Greyhound trip from Brownsville, BP officers searched the bus four times.

There is a BP Office in Uvalde, TX.

Likely BP officers have kids in the local schools.

Uvalde is 50 miles from the border. How far does their jurisdiction extend?

Greyhound will confiscate contraband when found.

Great time to start funding the Texas ‘Marshalls’ program to arm a few teachers ((concealed), and let them nail a few crazy bastards.

They also have jurisdiction with 100 miles, I believe, of the border I would imagine in the smaller communities it is common for them to provide some sort of mutual aid assistance in instances like this.

The Border Patrol has jurisdiction 100 miles from the border. That was one reason Obozo had them pull their units 90 miles from the border. Gave the wet backs 90 miles in which to disperse.

Not surprising to me they were there given the area. So many people complain about laxk of coordination and cooperation between law enforcement agencies, you’d think they’d be grateful and happy cpb was there assisting.

Oh wait, CPB stopped the killing event from being worse.

It made the socialists exploitable event less worse.

See. I see now.

This is going to be “defund the police 2022”. And Joe just made his new exec order called “policing policy” which would have been wildly nonsensical until Uvalde.

US Marshalls were, as well. Look at the pictures, you’ll see those vests.

Pretty big fed contingent.

“The Border Patrol has jurisdiction 100 miles from the border.”

Okay, so there is a set limit. Thanks for the info!

Oh wait, CPB stopped the killing event from being worse.

If the reports from Texas DPS are accurate, and since they keep changing they may not be, the rest of the law enforcement officers on the scene did not act to stop the killing event for 40 minutes while they waited outside for the CPB team to arrive.

It is too bad none of the guys standing around in the parking lot wearing body armor and carrying firearms didn't act sooner to stop the killer.

I watch a show on game wardens in different states. Often times the game wardens respond when they were in the vicinity.
