As the pilot shortage continues to rock the airline industry, carriers are struggling to fulfill their flight schedules, and some are even trying to reduce required training hours to get more pilots in the air.
On May 13, Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci apologized in a YouTube video for continued flight cancellations that have been plaguing the carrier. Minicucci blamed the pilot shortage, saying "we had 63 fewer pilots than what we planned for when we built our scheduled," which caused a "ripple effect."
"By the time we caught this error, April and May schedules were bid on by our pilots and flight attendants, making it impossible to sufficiently adjust schedules to avoid cancellations," he continued.

“Question: do you STILL insist the new pilots take the vax?”
I’m sure they will continue kissing up to the vaxx mandate, they received billions in bailout money and may need it again, so they will do everything the government tells them to do. Obviously at this point the vaxx is worthless against the current variants so there’s no logical reason to require it, but the powers that be don’t care, they want obedience and that’s it.
And I sincerely hope that every single company that bent the knee and went along with the government tyranny, goes bankrupt.
I’m wondering if there are even enough trained/qualified NON-jabbed pilots available, anymore.
😩
“airlines still requiring the vax?”
That is the reason why they have pilot shortages.
So, where are these FAA check airmen??
Why is there now a shortage??
Maybe these pilots in waiting, who are getting paid to just sit around, could temporarily fill some of these positions.
I’ve read that there IS a pilot shortage….in addition to a major labor shortage, in general.
Where did our USA workforce go?
Karl Denninger has written interesting articles about this subject.
“My first wife was tarded, she’s a pilot now.”
Life once again imitates Idiocracy.
...some are even trying to reduce required training hours to get more pilots in the air.

They’ll cut training, which could jeopardize flight safety, but you can be they won’t cut the vaxx requirement.
“Didn’t these losers dismiss highly qualified pilots last year for refusing to take the dreaded vaccines?”
Yes they did, but you are not allowed to mention that as a cause of the pilot shortage.
Is anything working properly in this country?
Most all problems in America can be be traced back to government douchebaggery of one sort or another.
Who is John Galt...?
I am a retired military pilot with an ATP. I applied to Southwest a couple of weeks ago and they wouldn’t even look at my application without the clot shot.

I’m truly sorry you are being treated like a second class citizen because you are healthy and want to keep it that way. It’s as if our country moved into some black hole, causing our institutions to begin deteriorating. If a person is hard-working, his “reward” seems to be a kick where the sun don’t shine. I hope you find a good niche for yourself. I’m so glad my husband and I are retired and don’t have to deal with job issues.
Thank you for your service.
Amen and ditto!
Any employer that required the vaxx sent a clear message to all of their current and prospective employees—you are just cattle to us—we can poke and prod you at will.
The message was received, and the herd got a bit spooked.
Someone I know (female) became a United pilot over 20 years ago and she is now a captain. She got in via affirmative action because she only had private civil aviation flying time and ratings - no military or corporate flying. The airlines have had pilot affirmative action for women and minorities for a long time - I’m not sure why this became such a front burner issue recently, with their HR people mouthing off about it as if it did not already exist.
My cousin flew for United. He described himself as an “average white guy” within the company.
Unreal, isn’t it?
The herd certainly got thinned, didn’t it?
LIke a sifting, almost.
