WSJ ^ | 20-MAY-2022 | Paul Hannon

Sanctions are hitting Russian families at the grocery store as food prices rise amid surging inflation, which is already running at double the rate of the West.

Consumers are falling further behind as wages stagnate in a slowing economy. The situation is expected to get worse as inventories run down, sanctions take effect and buyers adopt strategies that could push inflation higher.

“That is more than half the worlds population dumping dollars, even the financial greats are saying prepare for 7-10 trillion in USD dollars coming home- the USD has been dethroned, like it or not.”

If you believe that, then riddle me this. Why has the USD increased in value over the last months vs the other major world currencies? (Rupee, Yuan, Euro, Yen, etc.)

Weird sort of collapse when something steadily goes up in value.

“Russia is a major exporter of everything the west needs, they are in need of nothing, self sufficient.”

You are of course aware that most years Russia is the world’s single largest food importer?

I would definitely put money into the Russian ruble as a pure financial play but the government might freeze my account. See, manipulation. Also, my goal isn’t to see Russians crushed, it’d prefer to see my countrymen prosper

The Ruble is not freely trading. On the black market, Ruble is much lower.

You do understand the absurdity of your statement…

What a nonsense take by the WSJ.

Yay, Russians have it worse than we do. How does that help Americans that are getting screwed by Bidenomics.

Does Russia having a tough time supposed to make us feel better about our own unforced errors.

Next they should write an article highlighting that the 13 soldiers and Marines who died in Biden’s Afghanistan bungle are spared from rising gas prices.

“On the black market”

You do understand that Black Market is illegal. Foreigners can’t sell Russian stocks, get Rubles, go stand on a corner in Moscow and convert to USD.

Ruble is not free trading as I said.

The diffrence is though painful the Russians know what to expect. The West, especially America is still in denial. It’s going to get ugly in America. See: Venezuela. The govt starved their citizens while laughing and eating steak on TV mocking them. Told the people to “buy a chicken” “grow a garden” which would be great if you had armed gaurds to keep marauders and hungry people away. The govt shot and killed the people for protesting, even celebrities, even a Ms. Venezuela. The people ended up drinking sewage & polluted river water. Eating food out of dumpsters and the garbage, eating their pets, eating rats, eating the animals at the zoo if not starving them to death locked up. Robbing and killing their neighbors and again, eating their pets. The Govt put the equivalent of BLM & Antifa in charge of running the streets. Confiscated businesses and ran the rich out. But kept the people captive they copul;d not leave. It’s going to get ugly and our elected representatives are the enemy.

“The Ruble is not freely trading.

On the black market, Ruble is much lower.”

You and another troll here repeat it over and over again, except there is no black market and you can freely buy forex in any bank. Of course the banks’ rates are less lucrative compared to the exchange. It was like this forever.

As for inflation it is mostly rubbish. There was price hike on many imports in March, now most of it is back to normal. With the parallel import legalized, imported stuff like clothes and electronics is lower now than in February.
