The House voted Thursday to pass Democrats’ bill aimed at combating “price gouging” on gasoline.

The bill passed 217-207, with no Republicans voting for it and four Democrats voting against it: Reps. Stephanie Murphy (Fla.), Lizzie Fletcher (Texas), Kathleen Rice (N.Y.) and Jared Golden (Maine).

so much virtue signaling bills with mid-terms coming. They know this won't go anywhere other than in campaign messages.

Americans are stupid. This will appeal to the masses.

Absolutely. Far too many Freepers seem unaware of this fact.

"There's nothing stopping election year, desperate, alleged election stealing Democrats and RINOs from passing a bill to allow oil companies to resume Trump-era pumping of oil to lower gas prices, and then to veto override an expected Biden veto of such a bill."

Fixed post 59.

I don't think most people are actually that stupid. Carter & the Dems tried the same schtick in the 70s. It didn't work then, either.

The President and his party always get the blame for major screwups.

Good point. And with price controls, and the obvious shutdown of supply which will follow, that tax revenue will dry up, too.

Off the charts ignorance on display…

You cause it.

You make it a crime, charged to others.

Job done!

"House passes gasoline price-gouging bill"

...because they really want to shut down domestic gasoline sales...?

That's how you shut down gasoline sales: Outlaw a profit margin.

Gas shortages, here we come.

It won't change a thing, because it's not going to pass in the Senate. And the DEMs will scream that the GOP is preventing them from lowering gas prices, and further implicate the oil industry as gouging customers. A sizable majority in this country will believe this, and I do mean *sizable*.

Back in the old days, the left would say this kind of stuff in front of the cameras because it played to their core constituents. But now I think they’re believing their own lies.

What isn't racist these days?

I would never try this joke today:

On 7/4/1980, I was invited to my NCOIC's quarters for a BBQ. I was the only white guy in a 7 man supply section (I was the S-4 for my battalion).

His wife cooked the best soul food I have ever eaten. She was surprised that I asked for seconds on chitlins. After complimenting her, I said, "Ma'am, I just can't explain it, but for some reason I feel like dancing."

While her jaw dropped to the floor, the men I worked with busted out laughing. That's the way we rolled back then.

Nope, wouldn't even consider it today.
