U.S. District Judge Mark Walker ruled that portions of the law restricting the use of ballot drop-boxes, assistance for voters, and third-party voter registration drives violated the Voting Rights Act and constitutional protections because they were passed "with the intent to discriminate against Black voters."

Judge Mark Walker has a curious political past.

He attended West Point for the summer preceding his freshman year, then dropped out after a few days when his first semester started.

He transferred to the University of Florida and graduated first in his class.

The first two judges he clerked for were appointed by Reagan and by a GOP Florida Governor.

Obama nominated him, but the Senate confirmed him 94-0.
