Oh yes, fertilizer, I nearly forgot. We have to use fertilizer on our lawns to keep them green, not our food-producing fields. You have to keep the neighborhood association happy.

FWIW, I have an annual fight with the neighbor code Nazi because I plant clover, wildflowers and other bee friendly plants on my suburban lawn that dump grass greening fertilizer. It actually cuts down on the mowing and maintenance costs. Now that I have a couple of the township supervisors on my side, the code Nazi has cut back on his visits.

I'm actually spoiling for another fight this year because the code Nazi is a DemoCrap civil service hack and our supervisors are solidly conservative since last election swept his last supporter out of office.
