Time to dismantle some Russian delusions: People apologizing for Putin up the ante. Here are a number of reasons why they're wrong.

With the disintegration of the Soviet Union, everyone breathed easier. Russian communists tacitly, and in some cases openly, acknowledged that Reagan was right about the "evil empire." Religious extreme Marxism followed dinosaurs into extinction. Over a dozen countries emerged from behind the Iron Curtain.

With his attack on Ukraine, Putin shows himself as a species of dinosaur. He believes that Russia, with a GDP smaller than those of California and Texas, is a world power that deserves special spheres of influence. He believes that Russia's nuclear arsenal allows him to claim a more aggressive role than that of a normal European country. Virtually the entire world rejects that claim. We will not be safe from WWIII until Putin, or his successor, accepts that rejection. If not, everyone will be open to Russian bullying, which could easily lead to nuclear war.

Normal European countries neither need nor desire to invade one another. Putin claims to fear that NATO poses an invasion threat to Russia. To be clear, there is no reason to invade Russia. We can dismiss the notion that Estonia wants its troops patrolling the streets of St. Petersburg. Those commodities, including oil, that Russia might choose to withhold can be acquired in quantity elsewhere. The one exception is its pool of superb hockey players. That's important, but it's not worth a war.

That Putin fears the armies on his border means they are doing their job. A deterrent force that isn't feared doesn't serve its purpose. That deterrence is necessary is demonstrated by Russia's multiple attacks on Ukraine and its attacks on Georgia, Chechnya, and others. Putin wants to eliminate this deterrence in order to attack his neighbors. There is no other plausible reason.

Now you have Putin basically saying that the Soviet Union was ‘stabbed in the back’, just like Hitler said about Germany after WWI.

Note to Russ McSwill:

California and Texas don't have the most nuclear devices in the world.

Sit down and shut up, McSwill.

BOTTOM LINE

There are no excuses or justifications for the vicious Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is clear that Ukraine, along with Poland, Czechia, and a score of other European countries, has no interest in being ruled by Russia and equally clear that they have no interest in ruling or incentive to rule Russia.

Well in the case of Texas, more’s the pity.

I don't believe this.

Siberia has tons of undeveloped natural resources and rare earth minerals.

“Modern@ wars are waged by destroying the culture of a country with perversion, infiltrating its institutions using obscenely funded NGOs, and enslaving it with financial debt. That is how America wages is war on its own citizens and the world.

All these people standing up for Biden and Ukraine (the usual media suspects) makes me worried.

We haven’t been able to trust them for years... Why should we trust them now?

Especially George Soros supporting Ukraine.

What’s really going on here?

It's just a projection tactic by the globalist Klaus Schaub bootlickers.

“ Normal European countries neither need nor desire to invade one another.”

History simply, flatly disagrees.

RE: I haven’t seen or heard anybody “apologizing for Putin/Russia”.

I’ve see people telling the west and those countries in the UN that voted to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to UNDERSTAND why Russia did it.

It is because Russia does not want another NATO country ( e.g. Ukraine’s application to join NATO ) in her backyard threatening her.

I’ve see pundits ask the question — what would the USA do if Russia or China sent troops and missiles to Cuba? Would it not justify the USA invading Cuba?

*THAT* is the apology for Putin and Russia.

Normal European countries neither need nor desire to invade one another.

"Normal" European countries have allowed themselves to be invaded by Muslim hordes posing as 'refugees'.

I just could be that people aren't apologizing for Putin. They could be merely trying to point out that Putin is responding to less than honorable behavior on the part of the US and NATO.

The US and NATO agreed with Russia in 1991 that they would not move to make former satellite nations members of NATO. We were, in fact, courting Ukraine and other nations to join. Putin asked for face-to-face meetings with Biden and European leaders in order to address the feeling of insecurity these NATO moves brought to Russia. Western leaders failed to respond twice to that call to a meeting. Next Putin asked for a written document that described the intentions of NATO with respect to putting nuclear weapons into those those former satellites. Again, there was no response from the West.

Any fool can see that Putin's moves are on behalf of his nation's security. He seeks no more than guarantees that nuclear weapons are not aimed at Russia from close range, just exactly our stance when Russia put missiles in Cuba.

The problem must be understood before a solution can be applied. It seems to many of us that our leadership have failed miserably at diplomacy and statesmanship.

The author is the one with delusions.

We are going to suffer a great deal because of this kind of thinking.

Very, very sad.
