Boris Johnson is expected to face more questions about his leadership at Prime Minister's Questions, as the row over lockdown parties at No 10 continues.
A group of the newest Conservative MPs are believed to be preparing to submit letters of no confidence in him, having met to discuss the issue on Tuesday.
If 54 Tory MPs submit letters, it would trigger a leadership contest.
Only seven are known to have done so, but one MP told the BBC they thought the threshold could be reached shortly.
Another said there was now a consensus, and a leadership contest could come sooner rather than later.
However, only MP Sir Graham Brady, chair of the Conservative backbench 1922 committee - who receives and counts up the no-confidence requests - knows the exact number.

What’s with the name “Boris” which can mean “wolf”? Remember Boris Yeltsen being drunk in public as the Soviet Union was transitioning back to Russia. Maybe tough guys can briefly be good leaders when tough transitions need to be made though Boris Johnson has turned into a disappointment.

Nothing will happen... Johnston isn’t going anywhere... This is purely wishful thinking by the opposition parties and the leftist media of the UK... And Johnson will win the next election by a landslide.
The UK is dropping all Covid restrictions in a matter of weeks... No passports, no test, no travel restrictions. The UK will become the first country to officially declare Covid an ‘endemic’, instead of a ‘pandemic’.
I would have agreed with you up until December. But this party-business, the inflation situation, and the empty shelves at groceries...are all adding up.
The only positive factor is no one within the Conservative Party is that thrilled over replacing Johnson at this point. Maybe they can slide through to spring 2024, but I don’t see Johnson getting the nod to run again.
If Boris isn’t dumped and replaced with an actual non-moonbat, he’s going to take the Tories right off the cliff. His moonbat significant other is hoping that happens. He should dump her, too.
I remember Boris Yeltsen was going to be this great reformer but he just presided over giving away Russia to the oligarchs and criminals.
He apparently partied to hearty it appears....however likely just the tip of all that’s been happening.

He had a huge majority and he’s pi$$ing it away. Britain is headed for a Maoist government the likes of which East Germany didn’t even experience.
Boris went bonkers and Britain had some of the strictest lockdowns and restrictions right off the bat…people were getting tracked and arrested for going walking alone in the mountains, pubs were under particular government assault, all neighborhood social life was crushed (the British used to be very fond of social clubs, glee clubs, etc.), travel was shut down…and the politicians were out partying hearty.
Boris was terrible and it’s only because there has been popular unrest (lots of anti-lockdown demonstrations) and a massive loss of popular and political support for him in his own party that he’s suddenly realized….gee, I guess we don’t need those silly little lockdowns any more, do we, my bad, hah-hah.
I’d like Rees Mogg, too, although I don’t think he has much chance.

I think the UK’s Deep State made it clear to him how things were going to continue during that 2 weeks BoJo was allegedly down with the coof.
