High wind warning up now for Northeastern Ohio.

We can reason that. Understandably.
But that isn’t what was said.
They explicitly said for everyone to stay in their basements.
They did NOT say anything like to not go into unstable structures. No. They told everyone to not leave their homes. That us very different.
we got nothing here in Ohio but warm gulf air its like 63 deg up here, prayers for all in the wake.
Looking at that picture, I would expect many more than 100 lives lost.
God help these people.

We just got back from a tour of the neighborhood. A lot of my neighbors lost their homes Barnes, and one lost about 90 head of cattle.
Ever since we moved here I’ve said to people that the difference between a tornado and an earthquake is that a tornado only affects some of the people. Well, there but for the grace of God go I. And a lot of other people were counting their blessings too. I was a half a mile away from the serious damage, but some people saw their neighbor’s house get wiped out while theirs was untouched.
One weird thing is that entire small forests around here were completely wiped out. Every tree snapped off. Buy small forest, I mean Forest of 10 to 20 or 30 acres. Areas that have always been solidly wooded are suddenly laid bare. There is a lot of firewood on the ground around this area right now.
We live in Taylor county kentucky. Our house is surrounded by trees on two sides and a big open lawn on the other side and it’s common during these really bad wind storms to hear the the strong rushing of wind through the trees behind our house. But last night as our power went out I stepped on the back porch and it wasn’t the same sound you normally hear. It was almost a deep rumbling. Today on my tour I found out that what it was was my neighbor’s house being wiped out. However, by neighbor I mean about a quarter mile away. Fortunately there aren’t a lot of houses around here.
The tornado literally curved its way around us. And yes, we were praying.

I believe I remember you mentioning in the past you have a “jump” terrain I.e. land where a tornado is likely to skip over
Perhaps they are trying to figure out how many people are missing/ injured or deceased. Easiest way to account for people is for them to stay put.

Yes. That’s what made this so incredibly rare. Also, rather scary. Entire hillside’s were completely wiped out. We think of the trees and hills as helping us and yet in this case the tornado tore through and just shredded every tree on the hill.
But the reality is that tornadoes aren’t actually nonexistent here, as last night proved. But they are quite rare. At least anything more than a glorified dust devil.

My father’s house and half his town were destroyed in the awful tornado outbreak of November 2013. Trees ripped bare or completely gone. Houses were shredded and all you saw were the holes in the ground that led to basements. It looked like a disaster zone, unrecognizable, just like these photos. His tornado turned out to be an EF-4. I’m guessing this was either EF-4 or 5. My father rebuilt, but it took about 2 years for things to look somewhat normal again. Prayers for all.
Thank the Lord, we to missed all but heavy T storms, and if hit it would have been a disaster, we live in a subdivision, in Tipton, Co, TN 30 miles from Memphis, their bluffs deflect a lot of stuff. They had power outages, we have sewer issues from backed up water. Small town of 7K.

Waverly, TN was still cleaning up from flooding. Not heard how they fared.
