The move has touched off a social media firestorm, and one of the owners is explaining the restaurant's decision in an exclusive interview with ABC7 News anchor Dion Lim.
San Francisco Police Chief William Scott is also reacting to the controversy.
Staff at North Beach brunch spot Hilda and Jesse on Union St. seated the uniformed officers at a table on Friday.
According to chef and co-owner Rachel Sillcocks, restaurant staff grew uncomfortable by their presence and asked the officers to leave, which they did.
Sillcocks said the decision to turn the officers away had nothing to do with who they were, but over the fact that the officers were armed.
"It's not about the fact that we are anti-police," she said in an exclusive interview with ABC7 News. "It is about the fact that we do not allow weapons in our restaurant. We were uncomfortable, and we asked them to leave. It has nothing to do that they were officers. It has everything to do that they were carrying guns."

Just trying to get some attention ... and it worked!
So who do they call at the next robbery?
Sure, it was the firearms safely holster by well trained professionals that scared them.
I think it is time to start open carrying in my state.
Is it a smart move to tell all the Criminals of San Francisco that you don’t believe in defending yourself or your business?? Come to hilda and Jessie for your free chit
“...restaurant staff grew uncomfortable by their presence...”
Well, that’ll happen when you hire ILLEGALS!
Except their letter said a lot more than just guns
In a city like San Francisco that has gone out of its way to become a lawless sh!t-hole, I would have served these guys but charged them double … because they’re obviously an enormous waste of taxpayer money.
The officers probably looked like Alec Baldwin.
Nice advertising that they are ripe for the picking by the ferals…no cops or weapons inside.
Cops would have handled this much differently, and better, years ago.
Great point.

Notice what she said.
*** “It’s not about the fact that we are anti-police,” she said in an exclusive interview with ABC7 News.***
She didn’t say that it wasn’t about the idea that they are anti-police, or even opinion, she said “fact”.
She has stated her opinion as fact, and that means that she is truly anti-police.
The truth of the matter is that they were using presence of guns as an excuse to get the officers to leave. The truth is they are anti-police.
I hope the cops are more kind to her than she is to them when she might one day have an intruder (who may very well be armed) who wants to do harm.
Are they sure they were really police officers?
I’m not sure there are any police officers left in San Francisco given the rampant crime and shop lifting.
Ha.
“It’s not about the fact that we are anti-police,” she said in an exclusive interview with ABC7 News. “It is about the fact that we do not allow weapons in our restaurant. Ignorant wokesters don’t consider a police officer wouldn’t be considered ready for duty without being properly attired, including all gear; gun, hand cuffs, walkie-talkie, etc.
Sometime we ignore what people say when it in fact clearly shows their soul............
“It’s not about the fact that we are anti-police,”
Words matter. In this instance the owner is admitting they are in fact anti police. There is no other reasonable conclusion.
This owner has set themselves up to be targets. It is San Francisco Stupid
And if someone robbed the restaurant would the owner refuse to call the police because they would be bringing weapons with them?
