Ethan Crumbley’s parents have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the Michigan school shooting allegedly carried out by their 15-year-old son.

The charges for James and Jennifer Crumbley stem from having purchased a gun for the teen in the days ahead of the deadly shooting.

Their son is already being held without bail on murder and terrorism charges over Tuesday’s Oxford High School rampage that left four dead and seven injured in the deadliest US school shooting of the year.

Officials had hinted for days that the parents — who told their son not to talk to investigators — could face charges.

The dad had bought the semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun his son allegedly used just four days earlier, on Black Friday, officials previously revealed.

Yeah I don’t get that. Seems to if the kid has stated a desire to hurt himself and/or others that is grounds for an immediate and involuntary psychiatric evaluation.

Even if not, if that was my kid I am pulling him directly out of school and having it done myself.

WTF? Is this the right call or??

Damn straight it's the right call. They either bought their mentally deranged son a firearm, or they left a firearm or firearms in an area accessible to this cretin. They knew he had severe behavioral issues. That's not the type of person you allow access to firearms.

Steve Harrigan just reported that the father/son bought the gun together. The kid’s mom texted that it was the kid’s Christmas present. Need any more?

The media lies about everything. They lied about the mom’s letter to Trump. They are setting the narrative.

Your average 15 yo is not mature enough to have unrestricted access to a semi-auto handgun. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

From the Daily Mail:

The older brother hinted at some family turmoil that prompted him to abruptly move out last March, to live with his biological mother in Florida where he grew up.

'It mostly had to do with the relationship between my stepmother and I,' Eli said. He wouldn't elaborate other than to say: 'It wasn't as great as it could be. Moving back to Florida was the best option for me.

Ethan remained living with his parents in a small home in Oxford, less than two miles from where he opened fire.

Eli said he hadn't spoken with Ethan or his father in two months but reached out to his dad Tuesday night only after hearing the news of a mass shooting at Oxford High School.

'I was worried, I wanted to see if Ethan was okay because I knew he went there,' said Eli, who also attended the school for a year. 'And then that's when I was receiving information otherwise.'

Unable to reach his dad, the 18-year-old called a former employer who told him that his old house in Oxford was surrounded by FBI agents.

Sounds like there was some stress with the stepmother.

More stress caused by easy divorce.

A common fallacy seen on the thread is the "perfect world" fallacy.

Given a large enough population, bad things will happen.

We cannot prevent all of them.

Those who wish to control us use these rare, bad events to craft legislation that punishes hundreds of millions for a small number of bad events.

It is a classic tale of the majority being stampeded by emotion into bad legislation.

In our case, it is exacerbated by a Media with an agenda.

It is impossible for any society to be perfect.

It is harder for a Society with a Media which wants that Society destroyed, so it can be recreated in the image of an imaginary utopia.

The parents have some responsibility here, because of the warnings.

So does the school.

But the big jump up in school shootings is because of Media contagion.

Your average 15 yo is not mature enough to have unrestricted access to a semi-auto handgun.

Where is your proof?

There are probably over a million 15-year-old people with unrestricted access to semi-auto handguns in the country.

The vast majority of them act responsibly.

The vast majority of them who do not act responsibly do not have fathers in the home.

Most of them are black teen males in urban crime centers.

A few bad actors out of a million.

I think, now that we know this troubled teen had been giving out warnings, maybe the parents could have done more.

When the parents saw the picture which caught the teachers eye, the warning stuff had all be obliterated.

Anyone else catch that?

Looking for ammo online is not a warning sign.

Times have changed since you and I grew up, Dean. I grew up in a rural farming community where it would not be unusual for a middle schooler to own a semi-auto .22 or .410 shotgun, perhaps, but I don’t know anyone that would be allowed to play around with dad’s 9mm. The anti-gunners are looking for any excuse to pass universal background checks and ban semi-autos. Responsible gun owners need to be more diligent than ever before about gun safety.

Would buying a handgun for a minor in MI be a straw purchase?

If you're the legal guardian, I highly doubt it.

“WTF? Is this the right call or??”

I feel it’s the right call. If they end up in prison for 15 years, I shall not lose any sleep over it.
