Leahy, 81, said he and his wife, Marcelle, have concluded that “it is time to pass the torch to the next Vermonter who will carry on this work for our great state. It’s time to come home.”

He was 33 when elected.

Far too long to be in office.

Thank God he’ll finally be gone. He’s been a bastard.

Thank goodness, too bad VT is such a Leftist state now. However, with a great GOP candidate funning against a newcomer, anything can happen. Priority #1, GOP needs GREAT MAGA candidate.

There is something disconcerting that this lowlife will retire in peace.

Considering the percentage of Vermonters who have been death-jabbed, there may not be anyone left to vote next year anyway.

Even tho he will most likely be replaced by a liberal or socialist, retirements are a good sign, the Democrats know they are toast next year. Already been over a dozen on Dem side in the house.

I must admit, I really enjoyed watching DeNiro getting his brains blown out in that Joker movie.

What is the psychological profile of a human being who wants “to serve” for such a long time?

My guess is it is as evil as it comes. THEY actually believe that they are irreplaceable. In reality, we need to get back to a Senate that is little more than handmaidens of the States. Make it so the Congress critters, cannot profit in any way from serving too. Build them dormitories, pay them the national average wage plus enough to compensate them for the expense of leaving home behind. Let them have staff, but limit them in terms of service time. Restrict them and their families from investing in products or stocks. Basically term limit them so people will want to get back to the real world.

It is time for a citizen Congress. People that would be INCENSED that their true power has been given to unseen bureaucrats, and TAKE BACK the power to return it to the PEOPLE.
