US pulls missile defenses in Saudi Arabia amid Yemen attacks

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. has removed its most advanced missile defense system and Patriot batteries from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, even as the kingdom faced continued air attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels, satellite photos analyzed by The Associated Press show.

The redeployment of the defenses from Prince Sultan Air Base outside of Riyadh came as America’s Gulf Arab allies nervously watched the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, including their last-minute evacuations from Kabul’s besieged international airport....

...Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby acknowledged “the redeployment of certain air defense assets” after receiving questions from the AP. He said the U.S. maintained a “broad and deep” commitment to its Mideast allies....

I am as wary as you are of getting sucked into quagmire wars in the Middle East the drain are resources and render us even more vulnerable to China, not to mention to Islamic radicals but is quite a different matter when one is speaking of a missile defense shield.

At a time when the Biden administration has picked up the cause of the Obama administration and facilitated Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, no doubt installed on missiles, the Biden administration has just guaranteed that the balance of power in the Gulf region will flip and it will flip against us. We will lose and the world will lose one of the major sources of petroleum; the world will go into a massive, precipitous decline.

Some may argue that this is simply part of the Biden administration's war against Israel, others will argue that this is part of a scheme of the Biden administration to undermine and eventually destroy America, both will be right. I, for one, have posted countless times before the November election that the replacement of Donald Trump would result in an ultimate victory for China over the United States.

Our understandable reluctance to engage in Middle Eastern conflicts cannot be reflexive but must be carried out discriminatly or Islamists and their Chinese fellow schemers win a different way.

Right. So, no, it’s not “good”.

Spent 5 years in the Kingdom. You are correct that we have very important strategic interests there. Saudis have the world’s largest supply of exportable oil. And the House of Saud has been helpful to us in ways the general public is unaware of.

Biden has been holding up arms sales to the Saudis. Big mistake. They will just buy what they need from the French, UK, China, Russia, etc. We should help the Saudis in their conflict with Yemen, which is being used as a surrogate by Iran.

Iran could be pressuring Biden to pull back from the Saudis in return for renewing the Iran deal. Wendy Sherman gave us the bad deals in North Korea and Iran and she played a role in the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
