Within hours after Andrew Cuomo’s stunning resignation as governor of New York on Tuesday, state and national Republican leaders were optimistic about their chances of winning the governorship of the Empire State for the first time in 20 years.

Backed by more than 80% of the Republican county organizations in New York and certain of the ballot line of the New York Conservative Party, Rep. Lee Zeldin has so far raised more than $4 million toward a race for governor.

Mixed feelings on this. We ned him here in NY-1, but I have no doubt he’d make a good governor (assuming his bid was successful).

Zeldin is great. The problem is that Republicans have to follow the Trump doctrine and policies to continue if we are to survive as a nation. Our people are too smart to be fooled again. Most that is.

NYC now has RCV.

The whole state has RCV-enabled machines.

IOW, NYS needs an audit, too.

Due to endemic fraud, no Republican can win a statewide election in New York or New Jersey.

Perhaps we’re guilty when it comes to wishful thinking. Now about that Calif. recall.

At this point in time, I would not bet the farm on Zeldin or even the chicken house.
The election is still 13 months out. That is a lifetime in politics. Plus, New York has pretty much perfected the Democrat Hustle. The ‘49 Plymouth Business Coupe has been scrapped out in favor of the Ballot Press which can turn out a hundred or a thousand or a million ballots in a couple of hours. The fastest high speed press in the world.

Being optimistic is one thing.

Being realistic is another.

He’s my Congressman. I don’t think he can take the Governor race in this state. Better he stays as congressman in an area he can beat the democrats in then lose all in the gubernatorial race. We can’t afford to lose him

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with fraud. The people here actually believe in all of this liberal nonsense. And they are very engaged politically.

The red diaper babies have created a permanent underclass through generous handouts, and there are more of them than us.

Can’t wait to leave, but there are fewer and fewer places left to go.

Just what I was going to say. I live in NY unfortunately, and I don’t know anyone who supported Cuomo or DeBlasio yet they both got easily reelected. I grew up in AOCs district and the people I know there hate her guts, she embarrasses the hell out of them yet she gets elected and reelected? Like hell she did. This is the democrap machines fixing election to ensure far leftists are elected.

Are New York "Republicans" Republicans?

Trump is in a separate category.

What passes for a Republican in NY would be a Democrat in most other states. Any Republican governor of NY would be nothing more than a RINO. No conservative will ever again win a gubernatorial election in New York.
