Amid a new surge in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, Los Angeles on Wednesday moved toward requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccinations indoors at restaurants, gyms and other spaces.
The Los Angeles City Council voted to direct the city attorney to draft an ordinance requiring patrons to have at least one dose of the vaccine to be able to enter the indoor public spaces.
The motion, which was introduced by Council President Nury Martinez and Councilman Mitch O’Farrell last week, applies to restaurants, bars, retail establishments, fitness centers, spas, and entertainment centers like stadiums, concert venues and movie theaters.
It’s still unclear what the law will look like, and how it will be enforced.
The L.A. City Attorney now has to prepare and present a draft ordinance, which will then go back to the city council for approval.
“It’s our responsibility to protect the public, that includes protecting them from the unvaccinated,” Martinez said. “The decision to not get vaccinated doesn’t just affect you. We have kids under the age of 12 who are not eligible for the vaccine yet, and someone’s decision to not get vaccinated affects them as well.”
The city council meeting featured calls from several members of the public who expressed opposition to the motion.

Downtown L.A is seedy enough as it is. How do you enforce this with the many small stores who operate at literally dimes? It’ll fail and I;m not worried.
Plus I hate public gyms. Never been to one in 20 years. The fact that I have to WIPE sweat from another dude who used an equipment before me is gross. I have my own small gym at home.
I think back around late June...folks were saying that only a quarter of Latinos in California had vaccinated. I doubt if it’s risen more than ten points since then.
If you go and tell bar/pub/restaurant owners that they may lose one-third of their typical normal business because of the rules...they will ask, what’s the difference between this crap and being shut-down? You can’t run a business long-term, with a third of your profits gone.
The Democrats are just reverting to their old white segregationist selves. They can’t help it. It’s in their political DNA!
Restaurants can’t wait to force customers to show vaccination IDs, don’t you know.
A bully stops bullying only when he’s smacked down — hard — by those he is bullying. It really does take a literal knockdown to give a bully pause, especially a “grown-up” bully like this @sshole who will never change unless he is rendered incapable of bullying.

This morning’s news is very encourageing. People all over the country are showing their anger. It is no longer an under the surface current.
Of course it remains to be seen what will be accomplished but things are looking more favorable.

7-11 stores wont follow it. If you’ve been to 7-11’s in L.A. , the customer base are the type of people who dont like being told what to do, and wearing a mask is already a n issue.

I believe it. I bet most were, but not all. However, they told the press everybody was. I’m willing to bet a monks the vaccinated there at least a half a dozen or more had Covid while at the party.
Uh, if the vaccine works, why are the vaccinated worried about the unvaccinated?

From the Bloods, the Crips, BLM and Antifa and random criminals, they don’t protect anyone. It’s open season on everyone. But from Covid, that is a top priority that only the government can do.
I stopped too soon. Now I’m on full rant! And let all the covid infected border jumpers in, whether they’re criminals, terrorists, or poor shlemazels looking for a better life. So long as they’re exempt from all the covid restrictions imposed on everyone else!
Leave Los Angeles. Let the movie stars and homeless fend for themselves. They deserve each other.
