&&&& the Fourth of July. In a world where we officially recognize Juneteenth, that great new holiday sits on the calendar casting a long shadow over Independence Day, making it look like a hypocrite and a damn fool.

" slavery was the transmission belt that brought African-Americans into the orbit of Western freedom.
And I think it can be said that the descendants of slaves in the USA are the most fortunate black people on earth. Of course, probably only a small minority would acknowledge that. The current goal of all too many African Americans and many self-loathing whites is to preserve and enhance the black victim status in every way possible.
But if reparations are to be computed, I think a comparison of the average income of descendants of slaves in the USA and the incomes of Africans still in Africa should be part of the computation.

It appears that the writer of this screed has conveniently ignored the fact the first slave-owner in America was a black man!

“We may never have revolted against Britain if some of the founders had not understood that slavery empowered them to do so; nor if they had not believed that independence was required in order to ensure that slavery would continue. It is not incidental that 10 of this nation’s first 12 presidents were enslavers, and some might argue that this nation was founded not as a democracy but as a slavocracy.” Not a single, solitary word of that is correct. Totally inane blather.

First “legal” slave owner where it was adjudicated and declared to be a legal institution supported in law.
But the point still stands.

“and some might argue that this nation was founded not as a democracy but as a slavocracy.”
Idiots can argue all they want. They’re still idiots.
